This is a very well written book, I enjoyed and learned tremendously from it. It discusses many key inventions developed by Muslim Scientists and Scholars of knowledge in the various domains (math, physics, chemistry, biology, medicine, engineering, etc..)

Great book as a gift, excellent for teachers, historians and other involved in science, the history of science, or people who like to think outside the box

The uniqueness of the book, is that is among the few written in English which describe the history of modern science and how the Muslims were major contributors to it.

First off, this is a gorgeously produced book, a heavy hardback with a sturdy binding and quality paper. The full-color illustrations and layout are as visually appealing as a Dorling Kindersley or National Geographic nonfiction title. It has a very good index and glossary. Most articles are between two and six pages and highlight important individuals (I never realized Chinese explorer Zheng He was Muslim!) or various contributions made by Muslims to science, art, culture, etc. For example the article on pottery discusses the development of the lustre glaze in the 8th century and its influence; articles on paper and gunpowder discuss how the technology was learned from the Chinese and then new innovations were made by Muslims. The back includes extensive notes regarding the sources, which range from modern books to ancient manuscripts held in specified library or museum collections. Recommended for young people interested in history and technology.

My father-in-law, who came to visit us, saw the book in one of our friends house and flipped through the pages and wanted one. I bought one for him as a gift. It is well worth to buy and spend time going through. Clears out lots of misconceptions.
