About the Author
Bruce Brown is the athletic director and an instructor at Northwest College in Kirkland, Washington. He is also a special presenter for the NAIA Championships of Character Program, and director of ProActive Coaching, an organization that offers workshops on developing effectiveness in team sports with positive coaching techniques.
Before assuming his present position, he served as a teacher and a coach for 30 years in the Lake Washington and Bellevue school districts in the state of Washington. He has coached baseball, basketball, football and volleyball a the junior high and high school as well as junior college and college levels. Bruce has published several books and videos on sports coaching.

This is a much better book than it appears on the surface.
Not only are the quotations not just sport related (but are relevant to sports) but can be uplifting in general use. Most I had never come across before and I have about ten or so books of quotations (I sometimes write speeches) and there are very few quotations in this book that are either banal, vague or too specific for general use. It is not perfect of course, but as good as you can get for the genre. For an American book, it does concentrate on American quotations, but the quality is so good, it doesn't matter. The quotations are grouped into logical chapters and a chapter right at the end for the miscellaneous including the funnies. I expected a lot of Vince Lombardi quotes amongst basketball and baseball coaches etc but the author has spent time to distill the best examples from all sources so we get a concentrated delivery of the best motivational quotations available. Recommended.
