This books really covers all the basics in Surveying, from Boundary Law to GPS. If you want to prepare yourself for a national exam, you should have it. I would say that once you learn everything in it, you are at a level between the LSIT and the LS. Contains lots of precious information and will help you find the weak points in your knowledge!

This is the most practical exam prep tool I've found to date, and I know what I'm talking about. Licensure was important to me, so I've purchased and used over $2,000 worth of references. This book is the most thorough, topic by topic prep manual I've seen. If you can master the material in this book, you're as ready for the NCEES exam as you can possibly be. How do I know? I passed on my first sitting, and this book was one of the main reasons why. Going through this book from cover to cover is definitely like "basic training" for surveyors.

I used this book almost exclusively in studying for the FLS exam in October of 2003 and ultimately passing it. I felt like the questions in here prepared me really well, in fact, the majority of them were more difficult than the ones on the test! The only things that I can think of that it didn't delve into were computer, spelling, and grammar questions which were on the exam, but you only have to get a 70% on it, not 100%!! After all this is a SURVEYING book....

If you want to learn the most common surveying situations you may face out there, this is the book you need to read. Written with a high level of professionalism, the book covers a wide range of topics. I've just finished a course on surveying and definitely it helped me a lot. You will enjoy it if you are a math lover.

A must have for future PLS or LSIT examinees. An excellent source of study material needed for NCEES exams including, but not limited to, the history of surveying, calculations, State Plane systems, GPS, and Photogrametry.

I used this book as a study aid and as one of the books I had while taking my test. I found several answers to the test worked out or answered in this book.

I bought this book to help review for the LSIT exam. After going through some problems I found the book to be very helpful in refreshing my memory on some of the things I forgot. Def. a good book for any surveyor or surveying student.

Please know that the book Surveying Solved Problems for the FS and PS Exams by Jan Van Sickle is the same book as 1001 Solved Surveying Fundamentals Problems- plus it has some new problems too.

The book is as advertised. It has a very large variety of solved surveying problems. The problems and their solutions are very thorough and clear. It's a well done book. The biggest downside is there is no index or listing of the types of problems in the book. If you are using this as a reference dring a surveying or professional engineers exam you will have a hard time finding the example problem you are looking for unless you have spent a great deal of time getting familiar with the book or developed your own listing of the problems. It was very helpful in preparing for the 2.5 hour California surveying exam, it was useless during the exam.
