5.0 out of 5 stars Works with OS X
The packaging doesn't mention Mac OS at all, and the handful of inexpensive Bluetooth adapters that I looked at here on Amazon didn't either, so I took a chance. This one does indeed work with OS X Tiger. On our old dual G4 tower running 10.4.11, it was as simple as plugging this device into an available USB port and firing up the Bluetooth system preference pane. No...

This one does indeed work with OS X Tiger. On our old dual G4 tower running 10.4.11, it was as simple as plugging this device into an available USB port and firing up the Bluetooth system preference pane. No drivers necessary as support was fully native. I was able to pair my phone with the computer and browse files instantly. I haven't tested it in Leopard because our newer Macs which run Leopard all have Bluetooth built-in, but I would expect no problems. If your Mac doesn't already have Bluetooth, this is a great deal.

The product description does not say anything about Vista, but on the package when I received it says Vista. Tried to install it by letting Vista load it's drivers but it didnt' work so used the cd. Initially it didn't seem to work, but the next day the Bluetooth icon appeared and I was able to successfully connect from my laptop to my bluetooth stereo. Bluetooth 2.0. Great item for the price.

3.0 out of 5 stars Does NOT work well out the Box with Blackberry Curve, April 25, 2009

This review is from: 100m Wireless Bluetooth USB Dongle for PDA/PC/cellphone (Electronics)
I purchased the dongle as an add-on to get pictures off of my Blackberry curve onto my laptop. Unlike other phones, the Blackberry will not network with the dongle's software. Basically, you have to transfer each picture file one at a time instead of being able to grab all your picture files at once. The dongle networks with my son's Samsung phone and their may be a way to network the Blackberry but I need to do some web research to find out how.

Overall, I am satisfied with the product but wanted to leave feedback that it does not initially work seamlessly with the Blackberry.

1.0 out of 5 stars Software is not authorized., November 4, 2009

I am very upset to find out that the software included in the package is not authorized. It switches to the evaluation mode automatically, which limits to 5MB data transmission. It is ridiculous if I have to pay for the software separately.

We tried a total of 4 of these devices. Their range of consistently detecting each other was about 3 to 4 feet. At about 15 to 16 feet we had to scan from 3 to 6 times at least before they would detect the other bluetooth. We were unable to send or receive a file, got only a "Invalid argument was supplied". I searched the internet to find a answer for this "Invalid argument was supplied" to no success. We tried these on a XP & Vista Basic laptops to XP & Linux desktops. We used combinations of OS's XP-XP, XP-Vista Basic and XP-Linux. We tried numerous scenarios. Impressed these worked for some. I noticed some people got software and/or instructions we did not. I also noticed some bluetooth had "2.0" on the case. [...]

4.0 out of 5 stars Economical Bluetooth Adapter, August 13, 2008

Hardware seems to work well, price is very reasonable, but bundled software and drivers are terrible. If running Vista, I suggest you don't run the included CD and just let Vista load its own drivers...

5.0 out of 5 stars >>Important!<< How to use this adapter to connect your wiimote to your vista pc!, November 8, 2009

This review is from: 100m Wireless Bluetooth USB Dongle for PDA/PC/cellphone (Electronics)
in order to save you hours of frustration, i will share my experience with the product and hopefully it will be helpful to you.

i purchased this item and i think i got it october 15, i spent hours looking for a free compatible bluetooth software that would let me connect my wiimote to my vista pc. First off, the installation cd that comes with it bluesoleil 2.6 does NOT work, neither does the microsoft or toshiba software work.

bluesoleil 6.4 does work but it has a 15 day trial period and the full version costs $30 USD
so i stuck with that till october 30th, so on october 31st after looking really hard i figured out what you need to do, first off go to the bluesoleil website, click the download tab on top, than scroll all the way down to where it says about downloading an earlier version, you might need to register for a free account before downloading.

so you can download the trial version of version 5.4 which has a 2 megabyte transfer limit, but if you are using a wii remote that would be irrelevant, this time there appears to be no time limit, make sure NOT to update it cause version 6.4 has a 15 day limit.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great little device, January 20, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: 100m Wireless Bluetooth USB Dongle for PDA/PC/cellphone (Electronics)
First for the bad part. Its definitely not 100 meters. Its about 6-10 Ft for me but I wasnt looking for anything more than that.
Now the Good. I really cant say enough about the reliability of this device for a few bucks. If you have software than pick this up but dont expect to get anything more than the device itself. Running windows 7 64 bit it installed with no need to obtain drivers. Gotta love 7.

Im using bluesoliel 6 and its perfect for all my file transfers.

For the person who said it didnt work with blackberry, thats quite common for BB have issues. And the person who said it doesnt work with there headset, well all I can say is duh. Its not intended to be used to make phone calls. Its for file transfers.

I gave it 4 stars because of the distance issue. but other than that for 2 bucks its awesome. I also play the Wii with it lol. Synced up like a charm

I am using Windows XP Home. Have a Jabra BT2040 headset. Plugged in the Bluetooth adapter, will not find my headset. It did find my LG cellphone that I have paired to the Jabra BT2040 headset. No CD came with Bluetooth adapter. Purchased from BargainCell
