Product Description

You've probably noticed there are dozens of methods/terminology for identifying snap sizes. Some refer to the size and/or length of the screw used to fasten the stud; others use diameter of the stud barrel - but is it inside or outside-diameter? We provide every possible measurement so you know what you're getting. But first, here are the (generally accepted) standard terms for the snap components and how they all fit together: The STUD is the base or bottom of the snap and has a raised rim with a lip on it called the barrel. The studs in this set are attached to wood, fiberglass or other solid material by galvanized steel screws (included). The SOCKET is the top-half of the snap and has a ring that's slightly larger than the barrel of the stud. To close the snap, the socket is forced over the barrel of the stud and makes a 'snap' sound (at least most agree on where the name came from!) The socket has a center hole and is attached to canvas or other material by means of a dome-shaped CAP with a hollow tube protruding from the underside. A small hole is cut/punched in the canvas/fabric where you want the snap located, usually with a hollow punch or other tool (not included). The tube of the cap is put through the hole from the top side of the fabric and then through the stud. The cap and stud - with the fabric between them - are permanently mated by rounding-over or flaring the end of the tube with a flaring tool or anvil & mandrel (not included). DIMENSIONS: Stud outside diameter .37", stud height 3/16"; flange diameter 9/16". Backing piece tube OD .15", tube length 3/16". Additional pieces available separately.

Would not recommend this product for marine use, started to rust in one week of exposure to Southern Florida climate.

No complaints so far... just used one of them, my first. The cap was a stainless steel good one. This button stud replacement mated OK with it. So, the cap's stainless but the stud is tin or some other material. It seems OK right now, but may rust away later. No loss... I'll just do due diligence and fix it when it fails. Life can be a lot tougher than having a button stud fail.

Arrived sooner than promised ! this is the best price I've seen. The product is a little light weight, compared to the more expensive ones, about half the price of Scoville, but it works well. These have 1/4" stems, and that's fine for most things, but maybe FindFix should mention this. Also, Findfix should post a photo looking at the stud from the side, as the shape of the barrel at the top is important depending on what depth of socket you have. But with all this said and done, its cheap enough to buy 100 pcs and just try them ! Should also mention this is nickel plated brass, not stainless steel.

This is just a bag of snap parts. I looked at different ones and these were a good balance of price and quantity.

Their snaps... I use them for my boat canvas and they work very well in that capacity. They can go on any fabric and I do suggest you get a good snap set tool to install these. The tighter the better.

I ordered these to go with the tops, the tops were defective, but these weren't so I kept them and used them with no problems!

If you're on a lake, then they will work but for saltwater boats, I would not even bother as they rust in a matter of weeks.
They are flimsy and very light gauge steel that feel cheap.
