Absolutly Pathetic.,

This game developed by Nordcurrent is something that you will take a look at the title and think that 101 games on the 1 cartridge seems like great value for money. Well you would be absolutely wrong. Sure, there is exactly 101 games on this, 99 are locked at first. You must complete a game, or get a decent enough score to earn points to unlock other games, which is both stupid, and annoying. The layout of each game is in a slide view, which is irritating that you can not use the left or right arrows of the DS pad to slide through them, you must use the stylus, which is what you will use for pretty much every game on this, and the programming of aim/control/position with using the stylus is absolutely pathetic.
You would already expect that each of the sport games are mini-games, and not thought out, well designed things to keep you amused. I found a lot, no, MOST, no ALL of the games to be more frustrating trying to control the thing which prevents you from being able to just sit back and enjoy any of these games. I won't list every single game that is on here, but it does have just about everything you can think of from rec games like darts and pool, to Olympic events, as well as a few racing games, water events, sky diving, rock climbing etc... it is rather easy to get the score required to earn points in a lot of these games, and when you have done that, you pretty much go and spend your reward and unlocking another event... wait, "event" is making it sound better then it is, I mean it unlocks the "mini-game" of your choice. At least you can do this, unlike some other annoying and badly made games i've played on Wii that force you to complete the first event before moving onto the next... god knows how bored I would have been having to play the gymnastics games in this dumb 101 of the most poorly designed mini games of all time. I'll take you through a couple of the games to give you an example of just how bad they are. I'll start off with "Tennis"; how badly can someone screw up a DS game of tennis? All youd need to do is move around and hit the button when you wanna hit the ball, right?? Well, the morons of Nordcurrent have decided that you should only use the stylus, and you don't need to press anything to hit the ball, just move in it's way... so you might think, "oh, so it's Pong? Cool!" no, not cool, it's a very, very, very bad version of Pong where you have to make sure you are inline with the ball coming towards you, or else your ball will go offside of the court everytime if you try to just run at the ball and do a backhand shot or what-not... plus it's frustrating that you hit the ball and your player is always running towards the nets, you have to keep sliding back and forward, and it's just annoying doing it this way... it gets even more annoying when just about every 3rd volley shot goes into the net, both you and the computer do this... it's just badly designed and looks like an old Atari 2600 game. All the tennis games like ping pong, badmitten etc.. they are all the same game with a different lay out pretty much. They are all as bad as each other in control. If I haven't convinced you enough to avoid this game yet, then ok, lets see, on the cover it also shows Pool... ok, it's not actually pool, it's snooker, but that doesn't matter, it should be easy enough... oh, no wait, the aiming is the worst aiming in a pool game ever programed. Don't try to bounce of the sides, aim to the edge of the ball, go for any sort of aim you are used to in any other pool game ever made, nope, just hit it and hope it eventually goes in because the calculation in the programming was only to hit the ball, but not worry about it's angle or projectory. The racing games are a joke, but not as much of a joke as the "Pro Wrestling" game. You might be excited that there is a pro-wrestling game you haven't tried.. well don't get your hopes up, it looks like one of those old boxing games from years ago where you had a ring, and two boxers in it where you pressed a button to punch and one to kick... and thats all you do, press, or i should say, tap the kick or punch button a million times and you have won your "pro-wrestling" mini-game. This should have been the boxing game, because the boxing game itself tried to look like Mike Tysons Punch Out, but is so damn pathetic it's not funny, you just run your pen over the 3 icons and the movement icon in circles and you have won... did someone actually get paid to design the controls this way? Did nobody test the whole thing before it was released? How did these games even get released? Basketball; no, no, no, it's not 5 on 5...nope, it's not 2 on 2... nope, is it 3 on 3?... nope, it's 1 player, slide the DS stylus up to the hoop and try to knock it in boredom. I can't remember what game had this type of game first, I think it was Arcade Hits or something like that, but this one is such a pathetic version of it, and it's controls are ... sigh... no, i've said it enough. I think I have said enough about the horrid controls in badly programmed games. So what else can I say that is good about the game? Ummm... nothing, so here's so more complaints. The sound is annoying, it's as generic as it comes, but it's such a terrible selection of tunes. The graphics in SOME games are decent, but they usually are not animated, or your too busy focusing on the lack of prettiness in the area you are doing what you are doing your thing in to notice. If completing every game awards you with something, it's something I will never be able to tell you about from discovering on my own accord. Out of 101 sports games on this, only about ten or so appealed to me to even bother trying it. So many I have not bothered to unlock, and never will. Had only the programmers of this game focused on better controls, and not focusing on using the stupid stylus for everything, they may have had a half decent game to buy here. But as I have said, don't bother with it.

I bought this game because I own and like the 101 in 1 Megamix game. It's similar, in that there are various timed mini games to complete -- and you can unlock more games with points you earn. The difference with this one is that they are all sports themed... volleyball, tennis, darts, etc. Despite the negative reviews, I enjoy it. As long as you don't expect too much graphics wise. It's more like that old-school Olympic game on PC. And come on, it's a cheap game-- well worth the $14 I spent on it. Very simple concept-- but can be very challenging (and frustrating) at times, but that just makes me even more determined to pass the games...

My 7yo daughter enjoyed it so much esp during long trips and when things start to get boring while waiting for something. But it do not offer the best of all games in her age category

My daughter loves this game and I recommend it to anyone with kids from 6-12 yrs old. She is 11 but I think she's gonna love it for a while, she hasn't wanted to put it down for days.

There are better multi-games out there. This one is a little cluncky in navigating...and really, I find it unnecessary to have most of the games locked.
