Good Guide...Poorly Edited and HUGE mistakes,
By newtocontracts "new2contracts" (Fort Wayne,Indiana) - See all my reviews
This review is from: 101 Forgotten Films (Paperback)
This book covers a number of movies that wrongly (or maybe rightly) have been forgotten by most of the general public AND Hollywood.
While it is a good guide to those forgotten films it is very poorly edited,w/ numerous mistakes in spelling and grammar. It also has critical errors about films ( For Paths of Glory, the Kubrick feature, it cites desertion and not COWARDICE as the reason the soldiers were prosecuted) that are inexcusable and detract from the overall work. And finally, while there are some Indian,Italian and Australian films in the book, the majority of the films are Hollywood features that unlike some foreign features WERE available at some time in the recent past. Most foreign "forgotten gems" have not been. A good book ruined by poor editing and a lack of research. |
