God is real. Prayer is real, and gets real results. For anyone who's ever doubted whether prayer does any good, these simple but powerful stories from ordinary people, whose prayers were answered, both encourage and inspire. The circumstances are as unique as the people who record them. But every story in the collection affirms the message: God cares. God provides. God comforts. God protects. These are stories of hope - an antidote to the discouragement and despair that can be part of our everyday.

Sprinkled throughout are tiny quotes of inspiration - like Spiritual vitamins - some modern and some centuries old. I think it's impossible to read this book and not be lifted up to a higher reality where love, peace and joy reign. There's hope! It's true!

This is definately a "must" read. The stories are so different, but all so "real". After reading the first three reviews, I feel that they have really said it all. I have also been telling all my family & friends about this book. So many people these days say they are too busy to read, but these stories are so short that you can spend just a few minutes a day & be spiritually uplifted! I recommend for those who are very busy, take it with you to your appointments. These stories are so much better than what you will find on the coffee tables, in the waiting rooms.

For anyone who enjoys the "Chicken Soup for the Soul" series, this is even better! These stories, written by everyday people, take your breath away with their simplicity, deep faith and beautiful outcomes. Not just for Catholics, this book will energize people of all faiths who know and love God's presence in their lives. I cannot recommend this book more highly! I can't put it down and have encouraged all of my family and friends to get a copy. Thanks, Sister Patricia!

Though all of Sister Patricia's books have been good, this one ,in my opinion is the best yet. It is full of real stories of answered prayers that truly remind the reader that prayers are answered and miracles do still happen today. I rarely enjoy reading books, but found that I could not put this one down. After reading it,I have recommended this book to friends and family, many non Catholic . As I anticipated many of my Non Catholic friends were reluctant to read a book written by a Catholic Nun but once I convinced one who read it and confirmed that it was not at all a Catholic only book , others have either ordered their own copy or requested to borrow someone else's. That is the beauty of this book, as Sister Patricia and the people telling their story, talk about all different types of prayer or ways to pray, not just the Catholic prayer book prayers. This is truly a must read for everyone. It is a boost for those who have sort of "lost faith "in prayer, it is a witness for those who strongly believe in prayer , and it is a great, thought provoking book for those who are honestly not sure about praying . This is truly a wonderful book for all !

Each and every story in this book reminds readers of the power of prayer. The stories are by ordinary people from around the world. In addition, the 10 minute meditations, cartoons and quotes on prayer enhance the book. To me, it is best read a story or two at a time so they can be savored.

I grabbed "101 Inspirational Stories of the Power of Prayer" on my way out the front door, thinking that I may find a window of time to peruse the book sometime during the rest of the day. I was conducting a book-signing event with my book, "Consummate Connecticut: Day Trips with Panache," and the audience was, well, nil. I sat in solitude as the store's patrons passed me without the slightest acknowledgment. My mind felt like it was an overfilled blender of negative thoughts. Refraining from running out in tears, I recalled the book in my tote bag, took it out, and skimmed through the pages. The "Thanks, God!" chapter caught my attention. Reading the story, I identified immediately. My mother, who was Belorussian, also worked as a forced laborer in Germany. She is on in years, but she, too, continues to thank God for the most minute things, whether a fresh glass of water or "the first tomato of summer"!

Suddenly, instead of despair, I felt a true sense of gratitude. Ironically, the minute I couldn't wait to sink my teeth into some other stories, people started coming up to me! (The book signing ended on a high note.) Since that time, I enjoy taking "101 Inspirational Stories of the Power of Prayer" with me on my many travels, which can be quite vigorous since I am a professional travel writer! The book--a good travel companion in life too--is filled with inspiration and that priceless commodity that sometimes seems so lacking these days--hope. My favorite prayer, by the way, is "Thank you!"--and those two words I leave with Sister Patricia Proctor for her wonderful heartfelt collection of stories.

I have received many blessing from God through out my life but I am a sinner and my faith is often weak. When I find myself in the world and away from the spirit it is usually because I have not been praying and I have not been following my program of spiritual reading. I have found 1001 Inspirational stories of the Power of Prayer to be a great cure for my spiritual laziness. Not only are the stories themselves inspirational but the book is also punctuated with inspirational quotes from the giants of our faith. For me theses quotes are a source of strength. Sister Patricia has also included in the book several "10 minute meditations". If you've ever thought that you can't meditate - try these little spiritual timeouts! Each 10 minute meditation is followed by a beautiful prayer.
With the help of this book, I am able to get out of the world and into the Spirit!

This book is great for any person of any faith. The stories speak to the power of prayer by the average individual and the miracles God works in our daily lives. Stories are short, succinct and get straight to the point. Good aid in personal prayer. We learn from one another.

Inspirational and heart warming short stories. Very happy with the purchase of this book. Fits well in my library of spiritual readings.

I highly recommend this book. It is truly inspirational and I really loved the quotes and meditations. If you are serious about your prayer life, this book is definitely a must read.
