Book Description

What Are You Waiting For?

Looking for a guidebook that isn’t full of tired, lame, or even BS travel information? 101 Places to Get Fucked Up Before You Die brings together the most irreverent and legit accounts of drinking, nightlife and travel culture around the world. Part guide, part social commentary, part party invitation, 101 Places gives you all the info and inspiration you’ll need to:

* Blowout one (or several) of the year’s biggest festivals
* MacGyver your way into underground clubs and backcountry raves
* Throw down with people from the Himalayas to the salt flats to Antarctica
* Travel in every conceivable style—from baller to dirtbag—to some of the most epic spots on earth

Do you really know where to go out in San Francisco or Tel Aviv? How about preparing for Burning Man or Oktoberfest? The award-winning journalists and photographers at Matador Network let you know what’s up at each spot, whether it’s drug policies, how to keep safe, special options for LGBT travelers, or simply where to find the kind of music you like to dance to. No matter if you want to rage at Ibiza or just chill on some dunes smoking shisha, 101 Places has something for you.

So, hop a flight, raise a glass, and join us as we breach security, ride ill-recommended ferries, and hike miles into the wilderness all in search of the parties and places going off right now.

Editorial Reviews

"...I give the editor points for living up to the "around the world" part of the title, with passages on sites from Alaska to Zanzibar. Californians may be familiar  with Coachella and Burning Man scenes, included in the chapter on "Blowouts," but how many have also been to Korea's Boryeong Mud Festival, Cervantino (apparently celebrating the works of Cervantes with excessive mescal consumption) in Guanajuato, Mexico, or the giant food fight know as La Tomatina in Buñol, Spain?"

This book has so much potential. Falls short on a few things.

If you are writing a book about travel, photos of the destinations are essential. There are SOME photos in the book, but not for every place. I guess this isn't really your typical "travel guide", but still. Photos are a must!

Also, seemed like they wrote about places they never went to - just mentioned them bc they're well known.

Overall, it's a cool book. Nice, funny gift to give to a friend. The title definitely catches your eye, but the writings lack some substance & wish there were more photos.

I travel all over the world and love Matador Network for their stories but this book is worthless . Short random thoughts of a drunken experience. Each story is too short to gain info and too short to keep your attention. Sorry Matador you failed on this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly as advertised. Don't gift to your grandparents January 26, 2014
Exactly what you'd expect based on the title. 101 places to go to party, where to party when you get there (and where not), and anecdotes from people who've partied there before you. Andrew WK would approve.
