Book Description

February 1, 2008
The transition from being a couple to raising a child brings with it adjustments that regular parenting books simply don't cover. In the first three years after the birth of a baby, two-thirds of marriages suffer from marital distress because couples are never given the right tools to weather those changes.

101 Questions for Expectant Parents is a tool developed to preserve a couple's relationship through the transition. While couples prepare for their baby by getting the nursery ready and gearing up for the baby's birth, they don't really prepare for how this birth will affect their relationship. This book asks parents a number of questions to allow them to prepare mentally, emotionally, and physically for the task of raising a new child, as well as opening up communication on specific issues before they arise.

It allows new parents to think about and discuss the specifics of raising a child and prepare long before the birth for many of the concerns of a baby. It addresses questions about how a couple's relationship may be affected after the birth of their child, medical concerns of a new child, plans for childbirth, the emotional concerns of a new mother, and the shared duties of the new father.

This book should be read by every new couple expecting a child in their lives, to prepare them for the adjustment of becoming parents and the transition from coupledom to parenthood.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for New Mothers!, May 10, 2008
This review is from: 101 Questions for Expectant Parents: Preserving Your Relationship through the Transition (Paperback)
I got this as a gift at my baby shower. I actually recieved tons of books during my pregnancy and initially thought "not another one! how am I supposed to process all this information?" But this book was one of my favorites. It was a quick read and the tone was very conversational and not at all "preachy".

The author is a first time mom (like myself), so it was a great guide of what questions I should ask my doctor, my family and my husband. What's even better- is that after each topic discussion- there's a little workbook where you can write notes, so it was helpful for me to look back at any questions that I had.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for First Time Moms, May 16, 2008
This review is from: 101 Questions for Expectant Parents: Preserving Your Relationship through the Transition (Paperback)
As a mother of three and a grandmother of four, I think this book would be very helpful for any first time mom. It brings up a lot of issues that a new mother should be aware of BEFORE you bring your new baby home. I wish I had this book years ago!!

It's easy to get overwhelmed with the amount of books on pregnancy and child rearing on the market today! This book really targets all the questions/issues that come up before AND after the birth of a baby written by a first time Mom and her experience in going through it first hand.

It is an easy to read, easy to comprehend, informational book that any new Mom (and Dad) would benefit greatly from!
