Unlike most of the academic books that I have read on writing and publishing, this book gives the straight goods on how-to write, publish and promote a book. It is written for people who want to start writing now. I can open Bob Burnham and Jeff McCallum's book anywhere and find useful information. It is an important part of my reference library.

I have been sitting on a lot of literary material that is begging to be published. I didn't want to go the same route my Dad did when his 2 books were published in the old-fashioned way. They made no money for anyone but his publishers, but I had no clear direction for how to work with this material and market it. Now I do.

I attended Bob's class and have been excited about getting all this work done and out to be published. 101 Reasons Why You Must Write a Book book is fabulous and gives me everything I need to know to be able to move forward.

I am buying a couple more copies to give to others who are writing as well. The DVD set is wonderful as well. Thanks Bob. I won't let a few typos get in the way of learning from you.

For some time I've been considering writing a book. Purchasing this book has helped to motivate me to begin writing so I believe that it accomplished its objective. That being said, the things that don't work in this book were just as important to me as the things that did. The author stretches about 15 reasons into 101 by stating the same reasons over and over again but just states them a little differently each time. He preaches not spending too much time on editing (when self publishing) but the lack of attention to detail shows as there are frequent spelling, grammar and punctuation mistakes throughout the book. If you can learn from the authors mistakes, this book does provide food for thought when considering writing and publishing your own book.

I had high hopes for this book given the reviews here. But, it is such a dissapointment. The book is very poorly written. Clearly these authors were in such a rush to get this 'book' to print that they didn't even bother getting it edited. The poor grammar and nonexistent or inappropriate punctuation are so distracting that I've found myself unable to continue reading. It's like reading a bad high school essay.

But, maybe that's the point. This book is proof positive that 'anyone' can write and publish a book. For these authors, quality is definitely not an issue.

Bottom line: Don't waste your money.

I love this book I have a lot of book publishing books but this book motivates you to write a book.Just try and go for it and stop trying to be perfect .This book helps you get rid of the baggage.

THis book is OK, no meat, really all fluff, unless the idea of writing a book is totally new to you. I would reccomend this to a High School Student or College Student, just getting started.

This book has provided me with a very helpful knowledge on many important reasons why to write my own book and great advice how to successfully self-publish and market it. Thanks to Bob Burnham's and Jeff McCallum's inspiring and practical business model I was encouraged to finally take action and accomplish my dream of writing, self-publishing and marketing my first children's book.

This book will motivate and inspire you with a wealth of practical information and a proven action plan on writing and marketing your book! It guided me safely trough the process of writing, self-publishing and promoting my first book-something which first seemed very overwhelming to me! I highly recommend reading this book as well as attending Bob Burnham's live seminars for every one who truly dreams of becoming a highly successful and best selling author in any field!

This book speaks to you in a language you can understand. It is clear and simple, however highly motivational.
I needed this books inspiration and encouragement.
I have several book titles on my list, which I became passionate about through the years. However, that is what they mostly are... book titles, with a some attempts.
101 has given me direction and also a plan to sit down and to write. It starts me off from where I am at and then directs me from point A to Z. And voila, the books is out.
I now know how to write a book in a short period of time and how to do it step by step, successfully!

Over the past 15 years I have written 5 technical manuals. My writings have been referenced in courts of law. The guide that Burnham and McCallum have created is an excellent starting point for someone just getting into non-fiction writing. Many of the points are basic but that was the point. They (both the points and the writers) make it easy for a person to believe they can in fact write a book. Other tips remind me that no matter how long you have been in this field there is always tricks you can pick up by staying current and listening to others. In my opinion, if a person has expertise in any particular field; with a little perspiration, persistence and this book a person can product a document that will establish their credentials

Oh, how I wish I had this book when I was writing and publishing my book. Bob takes what is a confusing and overwhelming undertaking and breaks it down into easy steps. It's comprehensive and easy to understand and gives you the confidence that will get you moving. This is the book that will help you get your book published and get you out there instead of making very costly and time consuming mistakes. I highly recommend it and I'm using it for my next book!
