Book Description

May 1, 2004

The perfect book to introduce rhythm instruments to young children. The activities bring music into the classroom and offer ways for children to participate in the music experience, using rhythm sticks, sand blocks, bells, shakers, and more! Children make the sound of the ocean waves using shakers, pretend to be a train using sand blocks, create a rainstorm with rhythm sticks and perform circus tricks with jingle bells. Plus, they learn to play the instruments along with their favorite songs. 101 Rhythm Instrument Activities is perfect for parents, early childhood teachers and music teachers who work with toddlers through age six.

Abigail Flesch Connors is an early-childhood music specialist. Her programs include singing, dance, rhythm instrument activities, literacy/music activities and listening games.

Fun Activities January 21, 2008
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is a great little book with lots of fun and simple activities to do with really little ones. A lot of these activities are so simple that you will think "I could have come up with that" but now that I'm a new mom and back to work I'm happy I don't have to. I can just choose one or two of these to add to help make my lesson more fun.

I teach music classes at a preschool, and this book is perfect for my uses! The activities are fun, simple, and help teach children how to use various musical instruments properly and creatively. They also teach music fundamentals, such as rhythm, tempo, and dynamics. For someone teaching music to young children (mine are 2-5), this book is invaluable! I love it!

Great Resource!
This is a fun book, well organized, with great ideas for both parents and teachers. I use it with my college students, who will become future elementary school teachers.

Only the basics
This book was not what I expected it to be. It is for someone who has no knowledge of music or rhythm. The ideas were so elementary that it was insulting to me. Read more
