If you like useful information and interesting historical facts about motorcycles, you will love this book; I have met Salvadori at several rallys and his written style is as interesting as his conversational talents; it is like having a beer in your den with a great friend who loves bikes as much as you do. In sum, he has a rare talent for wraping valuable information in a laid back, comfortable style; highly recommended...wj

I've been reading Clements articles in Rider magazine for years. With this book I don't have to wait for the next issue! Great stories for the motorcycle rider.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Glass of Wine for the Man With the Beret, July 24, 2008

This review is from: 101 Road Tales (The Faces of Motorcycling) (Hardcover)
In the mid-1990s at a motorcycle show in Kalispell, Montana, I had a chance to visit for several minutes with Clement Salvadori and have been a fan ever since.
This collection of his monthly columns in Rider Magazine is so much fun - not meant to be read straight through, but pick and choose ... and savor! His stories are not unlike many that riders would have of their own, but no doubt told in a better way.
This book joins my collection of books to read bits and pieces of when winter keeps me from riding here in the middle of the country.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very entertaining book, April 11, 2009

This was a great read. I think the way Clement Salvadori writes stories the book can be appreciated by non-motorcycling folks as well as motorcycle people. I do ride, and a lot of these stories really "hit home". I've actually laughed out loud reading some of his articles. For example, his opinion on Coffee is right on. You can be at the nicest restaurant and get a cup of coffee that tastes like it was made from dishwater, and go the the worst greasy spoon diner there is and get a cup of absolute nectar. I would highly recomended this book to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent journalistic musings, July 16, 2011

This book is exactly what it purports to be: the best examples of the essays written over many years related to the travel experiences of Salvadori on his motorcycles. The beauty of the articles is that they are relatively timeless. Only rarely does one find reference to electronics that have long since passed us by, and even in most of those instances Salvadori recognizes in his work that such things will inevitably be passe. It is the observations of conditions and human foibles that endure, and he captures those very well. This is a most entertaining read.

I liked all the short stories. Each one of them made me want to get on my bike and ride. There is some good food for thought here too. I think that anyone who rides will enjoy this.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have!, December 15, 2009

This review is from: 101 Road Tales (The Faces of Motorcycling) (Hardcover)
I read one of the short stories in the book every day or so. I see a little of myself in many of the stories. As Clement says up front, this book is better read a little at a time, and he's spot on. The only downside is when my book marker gets closer to the back cover than the front cover. I'm in denial that the stories will end, but it's inevitable. A must have for any anyone who rides or dreams of riding.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clem is the Master, October 28, 2009

This review is from: 101 Road Tales (The Faces of Motorcycling) (Hardcover)
Clement Salvadori never disappoints with his writing and sense of humor. Reading 101 Road Tales is like spending an afternoon with your best riding buddies, sharing stories of your trials and tribulations on the road. Clement passion for riding comes through in every paragraph, and reading his Road Tales on a cold and miserable winter day had me longing for spring and sunshine so I could get back on the road myself.
