First of all; I am new to the slow cooking world. After many people had exclaimed; WOW, you don't have a slow cooker...it's so great you should get one...I finally gave in.
Started with this cook book.

The recipes look great and the photos are wonderful, which makes this an appealing cookbook. Easy to follow recipes; my kids will be able to use this book.

However; I don't like to mix a package of this and a jar of that and a can of such. I love cooking with fresh ingredients. Sure; for most this will defy the purpose of the slowcooker. For me the slowcooker is an extra tool to cook healthy fresh homemade meals. So I was a bit disappointed.

There are some recipes where most ingredients are 'from scratch'. I wished this cookbook had included alternatives for cooks like me. Substituting fresh ingredients for the pre-packaged stuff.
I guess I'll have to find out for myself. I am planning to make some of these recipes; substitute fresh where I can and see what I think of the results. I think I will order the Cooks Illustrated (test kitchen) one as that might be more to my liking.

For everyone else; the recipes look good and easy and if you don't mind the jars and cans and packages; this one is for you.

I received this book today and quickly looked through it. I usually tag or turn down the pages of recipes that I would like to fix. I didn't do that in this book because I like EVERY recipe!! I am going to get a second one for my daughter-in-law!!

I love Gooseberry Patch cookbooks & I have been collecting them for many years. 101 Slow-Cooker Recipes is one of my most used cookbooks. It is full of delicious & easy recipes and each one has a colorful photo. Some of our favorites that I have made time & time again include Tahitian Rice Pudding, Hawaiian Kielbasa, Chipotle Shredded Beef, Bayou Chicken, Best-Ever Lasagna, Ham & Ranch Potatoes, and Down-Home Chicken & Noodles. Our youngest son was recently diagnosed with Celiac Disease and luckily I have had an easy time converting most of my gooseberry patch recipes into gluten-free versions.

Bought this for my daughter who works and has two children who keep her busy with lots of school activities. She was saying she is getting tried of eating the same old things but didn't have time to find new receipt that have ingredients that she has to buy special. This is the perfect book for her and my grand-daughter who is 13 and is wanting to learn how to cook. Compared to other books, this is sturdy and gives beautiful pictures of the finish produce. Would recommend this to anyone who simply wants a good meal without all the fuss.

I got this for my boyfriend to go along with his new slow cooker. We made a few recipes. One was the game day corn chowder, which turned out awesomely! We also tried a potato soup recipe in it, which did not turn out well. Not sure if it was the recipe or if we are just terrible cooks! Overall I recommend this book.

I recently have purchased several gooseberry patch cookbooks and I love them. This book is no exception. Love it. I think I may have to buy stock in post-it notes because I am using so many marking the recipes I want to try. I have already made a few from this book at they turned out fantastic
