I own several beading books already, but when I saw this book I wanted to purchase it anyway because of the beautiful designs. It also contains a few design ideas I had not tried before - an elegant floating bead necklace, a spiral link necklace (wire work), and a knotted amethyst necklace.

The book contains a fairly informative introduction that discusses the different types of beads, findings, wire and other materials and how they are used. Next is a section of techniques with photos to demonstrate a few of the basics. I really like the author's "Beaders Tips" sprinkled throughout the book which provide helpful hints.

The main section showcases the jewelry designs and provides descriptions and photos of the techniques required. A listing of tools and materials needed for each is included. At the end of each project are photos of similar designs to spark the beader's creativity. The projects include a variety of techniques - wire work, charm necklaces, peyote stitch and advanced beading designs - that will allow beaders to learn new skills. The beads used are mostly glass, crystal, pearls and metal (no gemstone) but the author uses a variety of stringing materials (wire, silk thread, organza, nylon thread) for different looks and styles.

There are a few beginner projects, but most are probably intermediate level. An enthusiastic beginner could learn from the beginner projects and then work through the more advanced ones.

I recommend this book for its beautiful jewelry and variety of design ideas. There are definitely some I will be making!

If you are new to beading this is a good book for inspiration. Most of the designs are very simplistic with very inexpensive materials and easy to understand directions. I would not recommend this book if you are an experienced beader looking for truly elegant designs with great quality materials. I was really disappointed when I received this book particularly when I based my decision on the positive reviews given by other users of this book.

I am relatively new to beading and creating jewellery, and although this isn't the best book out there on creating your own unique pieces, this book is clearly written, beautifully pictured and reflects the author's talents and patience as far as crafting goes. I own this and many other books written by Cheryl Owen, and I must admit I think she is very talented and writes lovely books.
