Save your time and money,
By Larry R (Cape Cod, MA, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: 101 Things to Do Before You Die (Paperback)
I picked up this book (fortunately from the library), hoping for some thoughts on planning significant events that would enrich my life. Instead, I got suggestions like sneaking out of a restaurant without paying (p 45), having sex in a church (p 71), or getting arrested (p 23). Terrific.
There are enough idiots in the world already without Richard Horne minting more of them. If you're looking for exciting, creative ways to ruin your life, get the DVD of _Animal House_ instead of this book. Its just as rude, but much, much more fun.

Look back and say, "Wow that was awesome!",
This review is from: 101 Things to Do Before You Die (Paperback)
I was searching for a book to give to some friends that were caught in your standard adulthood rut. I was torn between getting the type of book that approached the subject with humor and recklessness or a book that explores topics like world impact and legacy. I didn't want to go too light (pure stupidity) or too deep (count your days old guy).
This book is clearly on the whimsical side, but it approaches it with a serious plan to living a silly, crazy, and fantastic life. The bottom line is that you probably won't look back and regret what you did, so why have anything on the list of things you didn't do. I enjoyed this book so much that I got my own copy and seriously plan to try and check off as much as possible. I may never get all these things done (still how great would it be if I had the money and time to do most of it?), but having a plan to keep my focus on really experiencing the journey was like a breath of fresh air. Just knowing that I still have time (and passion for) doing some of the stuff in this book has rekindled a huge appreciation for the opportunity we call life. Buy this book for everyone you know that won't be scared off by sex and/or danger, which is a topic that comes up frequently (and hopefully will come up frequently in your life too). Buy this book for those that are either really living hard or really wish they were living hard. Simply put, buy this book!

Life to the fullest,
This review is from: 101 Things to Do Before You Die (Paperback)
This book is about living your life to the fullest. Its about being alive and a part of our tiny planet in space and time. It's about being human. Sex, drugs, recklessness, curiosity, nature, and all the other great things in this book are all part of what it means to be human. If you are a 17th century puritan then of course this book is not for you. Because this book is about being COMPLETELY human and about NOT holding ANYTHING back or censureing anything about what it means to be human. If you work for the FCC then this book is not for you either. The problem with the world today is everyone is too busy supressing their natural tendency to be human. And the truth of it is that humans want to have sex in adventurous places, explore the world they live in, see and do more than anyone else in the world, and alltogether discover yourself and what it means to be alive. Otherwise you're just living to die. Be human, be alive, buy this book and do as much of it as you can before you die.

Brilliant,

The book is absolutely brilliant. The author even updates the book occasionally on the companion website, giving new and helpful information in accomplishing the tasks in the book. I ran across the book a few years ago and was immediately taken in by the graphics, writing, and, most importantly, the concept. Since then, I've introduced dozens of my friends and family to the book and a group of us jump at every opportunity in order to cross off an experience suggested in the book. I can't recommend this book enough. It's incredible!

Bored?
Been wanting to live life to it's kick*ss fullest!!? then get this book. i effin love this book. my best friend got me this book as a gift, and we've done a lot of the things in it together. its so much fun. and these aren't lame items to do before you die, its stuff you'll remember for the rest of your life, that people on their death bed wish they'd done. they tell you to do stuff like -Leave your mark in grafitti (goal accomplished) -get arrested -own a pointless collection -stage dive or crowd surf -bungee jump -learn another language -be part of a threesome (some things you'll need to do with precaution, or not at all.*note: getting an STD is not on the goals list) -Create a cult website -save someone's life and many more awesome things like this.and this isn't a book you'll use up in a month or so, this is a book you'll keep with you until u pass. also a goal-reaching 100 years of age. if you're that old, i doubt you'd b keeping tally in a goals book, but this book is a lot of fun. and in the back, it has stars that you can put on the page of the goal you've completed. stars are always fun.

Don't bother getting this book. Several of the things it says to do are illegal, like go do Graffiti, & get arrested, Other's most people will not able to do such as get a painting in a gallery or write a great American novel.
If your want to do something fun and new save your money use Google, & take the money you saved & buy something fun.

The ultimate challenge!,

This review is from: 101 Things to Do Before You Die (Paperback)
Everybody should buy this book. This book is as inspiring as it is funny. There is a checklist of 101 things you must do in your lifetime. I went and did some of the things after buying the book and I'm better off for taking part in those activities.
I did things I would normally not have done, and let me just say that this book is worth a hundred times its price. Buy it!

101 things to do before you die,
This review is from: 101 Things to Do Before You Die (Paperback)
This is a fun coffee table book - only! I like to travel and have lived in many different countries, so I liked the allure of doing more interesting things. But, this book is just for fun reading. God forbid you do most of things in here! Some are genuinely interesting things to do while others are simply stunts which would make your drunken (and retarded) mates proud. Overall, fun book I don't regret buying. But sure what your buying - a fun read. That's it.

OK. So yesterday, I got this book, so that I can basically REFUSE to do some of the suggestions made by the author Richard Horne. :-)What I liked about the book is that on the right hand side of each suggestion, there was a neat, detailed "planning" section and a place for you to put a Star Sticker for completion. The back of the book gives you a sheet of all the star stickers, so you get to feel like a kid again! :-) Now, I may be a Nerdette or Confucian or whatever, but there were some suggestions here that just didn't ring any bells for me. Especially the ones that involve police-arrest and other debaucheries of similar misadventures. So if you're a girl like me, you will love the book for its reference-able nature, laugh at a few, feel compelled to share about it with a colleague, but also feel a strong need to modify a handful of suggestions outlined here. I do want to thank the author for creating this book though. It is a well designed book, the list is thorough/detailed, inspiring and humorous, covers many topics, and a really good starting point to compile your own Bucket List. Just be warned though, it has more tongue-in-cheek goodness than a more serious life-long-legacy-quest type of feel. In which case you should be looking at the 13 Virtues by Ben Franklin. If you want to look at more books of this type, feel free to stop by: [...] Enjoy T O D A Y !!!
