5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for appropriate person.
I use this book with my clients who are in year 1 through 5 of their career management strategy, or with any entry to just-above-entry level career person who simply has not interviewed much.

Although one previous reviewer attempts to discredit the book by citing a few under par examples, many of the questions reflect true interview situation questions and many of the...

Clearly the positive reviews that this book has received have been posted by whomever is profiting by selling this horrible interview book. The book can easily be read in 20 minutes and offers absolutely no help to someone interviewing for a serious job. It offers many predictable interview questions and offers one-sentence "no-brainer" answers to these questions. A couple of random examples from the book are: QUESTION: "Shall I make you an offer?" ANSWER: "I Would appreciate it very much!." QUESTION: "How do you think your subordinates perceive you?" ANSWER: "They like me, I think." Wow those answers will really impress the interviewer!!!! (Sarcasm intended) After reading the book it seems as though the author put this book together in a day or two with the intention of making a quick buck at the expense of others rather to help others master the art of the interview. The book has gone straight into my trash can as I would feel bad re-selling this book to anyone else. I gave the book one star only because I was unable to give it none. Don't waste your money on this book.

I found the suggestions in this book to be outdated and sometimes plain foolish. Noone in today's competitive marketplace would use the answers suggested by this book (not unless they didn't want to get a job in the first place!) If you want useful tips and strategies on how to present yourself in a professional manner(instead of personal or humorous as Porot suggests), read Robin Ryan's "60 Seconds and You're Hired!". It offers some great insights into the art of "situational" interviewing.

I use this book with my clients who are in year 1 through 5 of their career management strategy, or with any entry to just-above-entry level career person who simply has not interviewed much.

Although one previous reviewer attempts to discredit the book by citing a few under par examples, many of the questions reflect true interview situation questions and many of the answers are helpful to those unskilled in interviewing techniques.

The book operates like flash cards that you can tear apart. My recommended approach to using it is to tear out 10 - 20 questions you want to answer expecially well, try using their answers or your own in mock interview situations with friends and associates, and use this as the tool it is meant to be used: One that promotes interview practice and thoughtful reflection.

I wholeheartedly validate the experience of those who have found this book invaluable. Many people do.

I'm helping a friend going through a career transition; we are using this book to practice interviewing as we commute to our current jobs. The format is great: specific questions and suggested responses get us talking about what we'd like our supervisors to know about our skills and working styles. We have both noticed we're getting better at communicating our abilities where we are. The suggested answers are forthright, positive, and allow the focus to be on the job.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good for an entry level only..., January 18, 2008
This review is from: The 101 Toughest Interview Questions: And Answers That Win the Job! (101 Toughest Interview Questions & Answers That Win the Job) (Paperback)
This book is good for a quick read and entry level. If you are a professional that has worked for any number of years, this book is probably too elementary for you. However, this book quickly outlines key questions for the beginner.

This was an excellent resource. I loved the Q and A format. The suggested answers help me formulate answers and prepared me for asking my questions. Made the difference in a recent interview process.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Have Book!, November 16, 2009
By
This is a must have book for anyone who is job hunting and going on interviews. This book saved me during my interview today with difficult questions like "What are your negative traits", "What negative disagreements have you had with peers/supervisors" and "How did you overcome the disagreements". I checked this book out from my local library, but as soon as it comes to Kindle, I will be purchasing it.

The format lists an interview question, and follows it up with at least 6 answers choices that you can use to get an ideal of how you can answer the question. This is a great guideline for preparing for your interview. Also, this book is for everyone, high school grad, college grad. (BA, MA, MBA, PHD), not only for those seeking an entry level position.

This book gives you insight to questions you wouldn't have thought of. A great way to beat being left high and dry in an interview chair wishing you had thought of an answer before hand.

This book has been an invaluable guide to use before an interview. The question and answer format was easy to read and put to use. Understanding what concerns an interviewer may have, made a huge difference in the interviewing process. Great book, got the job of my dreams!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Helpful Interview Guide, August 9, 2011
This review is from: The 101 Toughest Interview Questions: And Answers That Win the Job! (101 Toughest Interview Questions & Answers That Win the Job) (Paperback)
Reviewing potential questions and good answers is great for building confidence before an interview.

This book was recommended to me by my family. I flipped through it before an important interview to avoid being stumped by an unexpected interview question. Surprisingly, two of the questions I reviewed were asked during my interview. I had answers prepared for each of these questions and left the interview feeling confident.
