5.0 out of 5 stars great book for women who workout!
i teach fitness classes at a major national chain. this book is excellent. great ideas, wonderful pictures and tips. no diets (which i don't always like to have mixed with my fitness/exercise books). it's pure exercise moves using barbells, dumbbells, bands, stability balls and machines with good variety on each. if you workout at home only without a gym this probably...

3.0 out of 5 stars It's okay
I do enjoy the use of the pictures as it gives me a really good idea of what my position should be and how high to lift. It is nicely organized and there's a lot of good workouts in there. But it's nothing special, they use workouts most have figured out while in the gym (with machines) or see online. It also uses too much equipment, especially for the ab work. There are...

5.0 out of 5 stars great book for women who workout!, January 5, 2008
This review is from: 101 Workouts for Women: Everything You Need to Get a Lean, Strong and Fit Physique (Paperback)
i teach fitness classes at a major national chain. this book is excellent. great ideas, wonderful pictures and tips. no diets (which i don't always like to have mixed with my fitness/exercise books). it's pure exercise moves using barbells, dumbbells, bands, stability balls and machines with good variety on each. if you workout at home only without a gym this probably won't work for you but if you're a gym person this is a great book. i should mention that i really like the diversity of fitness models. that's something you don't always see in fitness books but i really appreciate it. this book is like having a personal trainer! i'm going to use it to select some exercises before i go to the gym then when i get there i'll just do the routine i planned for myself. again, i have lots of exercise experience but i still find this book to be a fresh edititon to my fitness book collection. if you like muscle & fitness hers magazine you'll really like all the workouts in one easy to ready, and pretty, book. good job!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Woohoo!!!....... now I'm ready to get my workout on, January 9, 2008
This review is from: 101 Workouts for Women: Everything You Need to Get a Lean, Strong and Fit Physique (Paperback)
I just picked this book up at B&N yesterday and for some of the very reasons previously listed by the other two posters. I love all of the great ideas it has to offer and the diversity of the women in the book. I also love the fact that all the pictures depicting the poses are in COLOR. It even provides exercise routines which includes the number of sets and repetitions along with tips on what or what not to do. For those of you who don't have a gym membership don't fret it offers plenty of exercises you can do at home utilizing dumbbells, barbells, medicine balls, resistance bands, your furniture, a step apparatus, a workout bench, and an exercise ball.
So there's something for everyone at any level. I don't think I've ever been this excited about exercising since there are 101 fully color illustrated exercises to choose from.
I wish that I had ordered it from Amazon because I could have saved money but I'm still happy I got the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book, August 7, 2008
This review is from: 101 Workouts for Women: Everything You Need to Get a Lean, Strong and Fit Physique (Paperback)
I've been using this book for the last 11 weeks and I am so happy with it . I've always been into fitness and have been a runner for many years, but despite my hard work I have never acheived the overall toned look I wanted simply because I lacked the know how. Well, I just had my 3rd baby 3 1/2 months ago and let me tell you, I am so pleased with the results. Granted I still have a ways to go, but I feel strong and look pretty good. If you combine this book with cardio as it suggests, I just don't see how you can go wrong. What a great book!

5.0 out of 5 stars 101 workouts for real!, January 12, 2008
This review is from: 101 Workouts for Women: Everything You Need to Get a Lean, Strong and Fit Physique (Paperback)
I agree somewhat with the previous reviews except YOU DON'T NEED TO JOIN A GYM! Did you know that if you have exercise bands the kind with handles you can duplicate almost if not all the exercises done on gym equipment. I am fortunate to have a Precor 3-2-1 and have found a new love for working out on it at home. But I also have exercise bands and like to use them as well so the book is a win, win for me. When a band feels to easy, just buy the next heavier one or make the band tighter. The other great thing about this book, is they give a sample work out week, such as, Mon: chest and triceps, Tues: Legs, Wed: off, Thurs: Back and Biceps and Friday: Shoulders and Abs. The book is not just body parts they also have 8 to 12 week plans. As you can tell I really like this book, if you have felt disappointed in other weight training books, as I have, buy this book and you will be happy you did.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is kicking me into shape, March 17, 2009
This review is from: 101 Workouts for Women: Everything You Need to Get a Lean, Strong and Fit Physique (Paperback)
This book is so good that I am sometimes afraid to use it. I have several workout books that I use to just go along on autopilot and not give up on my workout too early (or get so carried away that I never want to return to the gym), and this book is really the toughest. The workouts are all easy enough to accomplish, but every one of them really burns the next day. The best thing about this book is that there really are 101 workouts! This is a perfect book for people who are looking for toning-up workout programs that really work.

5.0 out of 5 stars It has what it has to have!, July 23, 2008
This review is from: 101 Workouts for Women: Everything You Need to Get a Lean, Strong and Fit Physique (Paperback)
Excellent book! This is what I was looking for: open and do. The exercises are very creative, very good, the book has tips on every page and also at the end there is a full program for beginners. You can perfectly use the book to exercise at home or at the gym (I do both). I am not a beginner and I found lots of exercises I have not seen before, they break the routine of my workouts and stimulate my muscles after the exersises they are used to. Just one little suggestion:the book should be in a ring binder form.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great addition to an existing fitness routine!!, March 1, 2008
This review is from: 101 Workouts for Women: Everything You Need to Get a Lean, Strong and Fit Physique (Paperback)
I've got a current fitness routine that I follow, but wanted to add to it when I had the time and energy. This book is the perfect addition as it is broken down by body part and the routines are relatively short yet challenging. I can pick a workout from this book based on what I did earlier in the day so that I don't burn out the same body parts on one day. The routines seem to be geared to all different fitness levels and they are very well illustrated with color photos and are easy to follow. This book will definitely become a staple for me because I enjoy VARIETY and this book definitely has that! Well done!

I bought 3 books and I am happiest with this one. It's great if you are already familiar with working out. It helped me add new things to my workout. Highly recommend it to change up your routine.

4.0 out of 5 stars Only one misstep but otherwise good workout book, January 11, 2009

I need to spice up my workout routine and this really helped. I enjoy the workouts they put together in the end combined with cardio and also the freedom to make your own. My only annoyance with the book is that I wished they had put page numbers on the exercises listed in the combined workouts in the last few chapters so I dont have to go back looking for them in the book - would make things much easier.
