5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent fixture - easy to change the bulb
I have 4 of these fixtures that I use for backlighting in media rooms, and I've changed the bulb in each of them (to a 6500k), and it couldn't be easier. You just rotate the existing bulb so the two metal pins on each end line up with the notch and pull it out. Install the new bulb by doing the reverse. It takes 10 seconds, and I've never had one fall apart on me...

2.0 out of 5 stars Review of GE 10168 Slim line Fluorescent Under Cabinet Light Fixture, 14-Inch
This florescent light is not bright enough for my need (a light under a office desk hutch). I did not realize when I ordered it that the florescent bulb is is very thin and produces little light.

These fixtures are excellent for their small size and light weight. I'm able to use them as backlights on large plasma monitors by just sticking them to the backs of the monitors with double sided tape. No screws or other hardware needed.

This is the second one have have purchased. The first is in my kitchen and is the 23" version. It worked so well that I bought this one for my bathroom. I am very happy with it. They are easy to install, give a warm, bright light, and look good.

I recommend this for anyone with a need for light but, limited space.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed, December 24, 2011

GE 10168 Slim line Fluorescent Under Cabinet Light Fixture, 14-Inch

I bought this fixture a few weeks ago at a local hardware store. There is nothing on the package to indicate that it can NOT be used over the stove. I have been cooking in shadows for a long time and was really excited to be getting a light so I can see what I'm doing. Now, I need to find another light because the instructions inside the package say it's a fire hazard to use this over a stove.

I've purchased TWO of these fixtures and with each one, when I tried to replace a burned out lamp, the fixture fell apart. The design on this lamp is such that you cannot successfully replace the lamp. Only two screws hold this fixture together and you have to remove them to change the lamp. Once you do, the screw retainer posts fall out, and the circuit board sometimes falls out as well. Now your fixture is broken. End of story. Don't waste your money on this.
For about $6 more, you can get another GE fixture that is all metal in construction and unlikely to fall apart on you. Here is the link:
