Salon Surprise Barbie is a delight. She has an exceptionally sweet face, her hair style is a great combination of feminity and stylishness, and she sports the new body type. She comes packaged with her pink highlights showing, but her hair is normally a platinum blonde with only a faint trace of pink. The hair dryer is powered by two AA batteries and works very well. Her pink highlights can be placed as a few subtle streaks, or she can be put in the fridge for a couple of minutes to bring out the whole lot. She can be brought back to all platinum blonde again after a couple of seconds under a hot hair dryer. She comes with a curly hairpiece that fits over her hair like a hair band, but looks a bit odd over her dead straight hair. The clothes are OK, and make 4 different outfits, and her tiny hairclips, shampoo bottle, comb and brush are really cute, although easily misplaced. All in all, a great doll for little girls who aspire to be hairdressers!

The girl to whom I gave this present already had an ample number of items in the Barbie category on her shelves, and I did have a moment of wondering if yet another would be a welcomed gift. To say that it was indeed would be sheer (perhaps "shear") understatement! She has not only had enormous fun with playing the hairdresser, but has used a good deal of imagination (the key, I would say, to fully enjoying the "Barbie experience") in the process. The well coiffed Barbie is always en route to some place in my niece's play, and preparing Barbie for the outing is a highly imaginative and delightful exercise. I would designate this a true five star gift!

I bought my girls the salon surprise, Teresa, Christie and Barbie. These dolls are all really pretty. They have nice accessories the only thing I didn't like is all the tiny stuff the dolls come with.

What a pice of junk. My daughter was so disppointed in this toy. The doll's hair color changes at a snail's pace. Please save your money and buy something else. Mattel should be ashamed of themselves for producing such garbage!
