5.0 out of 5 stars 1/2 the price for 2x the power -- or not...
I purchased this for my Casio Exilim S880 digital camera.

My original Casio brand NP-20 battery was still working great after 18 months, however I needed a second battery for some lengthy video projects. I was hesitent to purchase a non-name brand battery, since in the past I have had poor results with generic batteries. However for the about 1/2 the cost, I...

3.0 out of 5 stars Stay with Casio Brand
I use this battery in a Casio Exilim S880. With the original Casio battery, I never worried about charging the battery. It would get charged every couple of weeks when I would download pics. With this battery, I have to constantly be aware of the charge. I bought two of these and and now figure the two together equal one Casio battery.

However for the about 1/2 the cost, I could get a battery with 2x the power. I decided to take the risk.

This battery does perform as advertised. I have not yet ran out of juice while shooting. My estimates rate this battery at approx 2 hours of continuous HQ video film time - confirming that this battery does have 1050mAH of power (compared to the 630 mAH for the Casio brand battery).

Since I've only had this battery for 30 days, I cannot yet determine how this battery will hold it's charge over time. The Casio brand battery I am impressed with. Even after 18 months, I can still shoot HQ video for 45 minutes nonstop. Initially, the max battery life was approx 1 hour.

This battery meets all of my expectations and deserves 5 stars for the value and performance. I recommend it.

-- UPDATE --

I recently had two chances to test this generic battery's capacity in one single video recording. On both video shoots, the battery lasted only 1 hour (highest video resolution, manual WB, anti-shake off, Casio Exilim S880). This is the same performance of a new Casio brand battery.

It appears to me that the 1050mAH power capacity rating is not accurate. My Casio Exilim 630mAH battery also lasted 1 hour at the same camera settings when new.

This new battery holds a "green / full" battery rating for over 45 minutes, then quickly drops to "yellow" and "red / empty".

I would reduce my rating to 3 stars if Amazon.com allowed me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Japanese Replacement Battery for Casio, September 25, 2010

This Japanese Replacement Battery performs as well or better than the original. At this price, I got 2 and carry a charged spare in the camera case at all times. No more worries about running out of power!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Hard to gain full capacity, May 27, 2010

As far as capacity goes, this battery does have a greater one than the original. However, beware that the camera can't detect most of the increased capacity (which may be why a lot of people say this does not last any longer than the original). It is possible to utilize much of the extra capacity, but you have to take the camera off the charging cradle and put it back on multiple times. My guess is that the battery sets off the camera's voltage meter before it reaches full charge, so the battery stops charging. This is a design issue with the battery which should have been designed not trigger the stop charge prematurely.
