This Lawn-Boy 20-inch electric start variable speed mower is lightweight and maneuverable yet powerful enough to cut through tough grass. It is powered by a Kohler 149cc 6-1/2 gross torque over head valve engine that requires no priming, simply turn the key and you’re ready to mow. The 2-bail variable speed self-propel is rear wheel drive making it easier to maneuver on uneven areas. The smaller deck width allows for mowing in tight areas. The deep dome deck design accompanied with the tri-cut blade make for better mulching. Not only can the mower mulch but is also can bag and side discharge. Finally, a great mower that you can rely on.
This mower starts first pull every-time. I usually start it with electric start though. The adjustable height for the mowing deck is easy to adjust, since I have to adjust it all the time. The engine is very powerful and it hasn't bogged down on me through the toughest grass. The self-propelled feature is great and I can't imagine not having it. The mower is great for mulching, however, the mower packs the grass into the bag very tightly which allows more time to mow and less time emptying the bag. I highly recommend this mower and if you want a tough, reliable lawn mower get this one.

Very pleased with the mower - quiet operation (only a third as loud as my old 2004 mower), cuts great, self-propelled is so good it will go faster than I can walk at full-speed! Key-start is awesome - no more shoulder cuff strains! Mulches very efficiently and bags with ease - the bag is a little small but the mower is able to very densely pack the bag so it doesn't have to be emptied very often. Key-start works great, gets 8-10 starts before needing to be recharged. As with the other lawn-boy's, you have to send off if you want a side-discharge chute, which others have complained about but I don't plan on using the side-discharge, just be aware if you plan on using that feature. Also, the mower takes the entire 20oz bottle of motor oil, just pour it in and go. Assembly took 10 minutes tops, just unfold the handle, put in fuel and oil, charge the battery, and go. A vast improvement over my old mower, and I'm looking forward to years of great use. Ordered on a Friday with super saver shipping, showed up the next Wednesday - how great is Amazon? The UPS guy wasn't too pleased about lugging a 90lb box but oh well :) You won't be disappointed with upgrading to this unit - I wondered if the key-start was worth $50 but I can easily say it's worth it - and even when the battery dies, the pull-string started on the first or second pull every time.

Amazon Verified Purchase
When I received the mower, the height adust handle was broken. This was caused by poor packing by the Lawn Boy factory since Amazon had used the same package. I contacted Lawn Boy to order a replacement handle. I was willing to install the handle myself, but a "smart-mouth" customer service rep told me he could not help since I bought the mower from Amazon and not Lawn Boy. I then called Amazon and they replaced the entire mower- no charge.
