I bought this mower when it was at the presale price. Well, I got it sent to my home(Free Shipping was awesome!) and finally got the mower out to use over the weekend! Well, I could not be more pleased! At first turn of the key it started and I was off! It ran smooth and pretty quiet!
I did not use the bag and it mulched the leaves into little pieces! It works really well! I am very happy!


Update...Here it is April 2010 and I uncovered the mower, put some fresh gasoline in it and turned the key......It cranked right away! I thought that I might have to baby it since it had not been used in several months!! No such thing!! I am so glad that I bought this and you will be also!

If I could give this mower 10 stars, I would! I've used it only once since it was delivered by Amazon in 1st class condition and it's perfect for my lawn. It started right up and runs like a champ! The automatic choke makes it extremely easy to start as does the electric start. The transmission works perfectly at a moderate walking speed and is easy to control. If you are in the market for a self-propelled mower, buy one that is rear wheel powered-better traction. Lawnboys are great and Amazon has the best price! Shipping is free and it was delivered to me in about 3 days.
9-15-09. After using this mower since April, it has never failed to work properly. I couldn't be happier! The self-start works every time and the battery stays fully charged for a long time (in fact, I've never had to charge it but for the initial charge). This IS the most reliable gas-powered mower I've ever owned. A GREAT PRODUCT!
3-26-10. I have now used this mower for a year and it's as fine as it was when new. All I have to do is put gas in it and it goes and goes without a complaint! A highly recommended lawnmower.

This is an awesome mower, especially if the one you receive doesn't have a defect.
I researched lawnmowers and decided to go with the 10642 Lawnboy. I ordered it so my wife would be able to use it as well. It is a great mower, but it was delivered with a defect that either points to poor production quality control or inferior packaging from Lawn-Boy.
When we received it, the front wheel bracket was badly bent. It didn't appear obvious that the box was damaged causing the wheel bracket to be bent during shipping. It was either assembled with a defective part or the packaging needs to be redesigned.
Note: This particular defect is not a "One Off" issue for Lawn-Boy as I did additional research to confirm this.
We had the option to send it back (not really an option) or take it to a Service Center. We took the mower in and 5 days later got the mower back. The wheel Assembly was fixed when the new bracket was put on.
I hope Lawn-Boy will go the extra step in the future to have tighter outgoing production controls or better packaging to insure the Mower is delivered as prescribed the 1st time.

As advertised and more. Got it in 14 hours, truly amazing. Essentially effortless mowing, at least on the straight-a-ways. Mulchs well. One negataive note: Be advised that the fuse is taped to the bottom of one of the little boxes that come with the mower.

Having owned Lawn-Boys for years, we naturally gravitated toward the brand when searching for a mower for our 82 year-old mother who insists that she will continue to mow her own lawn after knee surgery. This mower met our needs exactly. We were looking for a small, light mower with electric start. Mom has been mowing with it and is delighted with its performance. It is easy to handle and the personal pace feature allows it to go slow enough to keep her out of trouble, plus we like the long warranty and the fact that it can be serviced locally.

I'm a 60ish widow living alone and need easy tools to maintain my house and garden. When I could no longer pull start my old mower, I read other reviews on this electric start mower. Am I glad I did and went for it! It started up with just a turn of the key. And it's self propelled! My lawn is small, so I anticipate many years ahead with this mower. Some bad features, however. Adjustments for height on the back wheels are extremely difficult, and I actually cut my hand when the plastic covers on the levers came off in my attempt to move them. Also, the mower arrived with the battery compartment apart. The directions are poor as to the assembly of this, and it took a while to realize there is a groove for the cord on the battery casing so the cover can fit on. Other than this, the mower is great and easy to use.

Great product! The assembly was a breeze and in about 30 minutes I had the mower ready to take charge. Keyed starter was a big improvement for me from the older model. The self-propelled feature is a great one and I take great pleasure in lawn mowing (which I used to procrastinate once upon a time! Kudos to lawnboy!

I've had the mower approx. a month. Starts on first pull every time...haven't even used the elec. start because it's so easy...but thought that would be handy for when my wife is mowing. Good power. Good traction. I'm really pleased.

After spending a week or so reading reviews on various mowers and manufacturers I decided on this model Lawn Boy. This is an excellent machine. Took about twenty minutes to get it assembled and add the included oil and some fresh gasoline. Turned the key and with no hesitation whatsoever it was running smooth. Just as advertised. (no priming or choking is necessary with this model. Just turn the key). It is very well constructed and appears to be a heavy duty solid mower. The variable speed is nice....the more you squeeze the handle the faster it goes. Additionally, it is very easy to push without using the self-propel function. I like the range of height adjustment for the cutting level also. The bag is easy to remove and replace. It pulls good and responds to turns very nicely. This was an excellent purchase and I highly recommend it.

UPDATE: 5/26/2010. This mower has now turned out to be a major disappointment. As indicated above, the first time I used it I was very happy with this mower. But today I had to return it and thankfully I purchased it from Home Depot otherwise I don't know how I would have sent it back had I purchased it from Amazon. (I love Amazon). I used it today and it worked fine for about an hour. Then, out of the blue, the drive locked up and it would not go. I didn't hesitate to call Home Depot and they told me to take it in to the nearest store for a refund and that is what I did. No hassle at all. I am afraid to buy major things from Amazon because it is so difficult to return them. One would think that Lawn boy would build a reliable product. I'm just glad it happened now and not three months from now. I will not purchase another Lawn Boy product.

this is an excellent mower.the electric start is great with no priming required.also the mower is rear self propelled and variable speed.i use it for mulching grass and has plenty of power even in taller grass.price was cheaper than anywhere locally with free ship.
