I'm not an expert technician, but I decided to rewire my house cable TV system in a proper 'star' fashion with new cable and connectors while the walls were open. I knew I needed a multi-splitter, but by my calculations I thought I would also need an amplifier too, so I bought this basic one. The bottom line is that all my TV's work and I didn't even need to plug in the amplifier. When I do plug it in there is no noise from the amplifier, no added heat, and no change in the quality of the TV image.
