I get lots of power outages, surges, brown-outs, etc. That's what happens when you live out of town, and the yearly storms bring trees down on the power lines. That's the main reason I got this, it will power down your stuff then power drops down to 90v or over 135v or so. I also have lots of fluorescent bulbs and other motors that can backfeed through your lines. This seems to clean it all up. The TV doesn't freak out when the wife is using the mixer in the kitchen anymore. The SAF is kinda risky for this (Spouse Acceptance Factor) due to the cost, just remind her of the cost of a new big screen TV. My stereo, powered speakers, CD player, DVD player, VCR, subwoofer and DVR and also hooked to it. It's kinda cool to watch the actual voltage and amp draw readouts also. Crank up the stereo, and the amp draw zips up to over 6 amps sometimes!

This product was shipped without proper packaging. They used the original product box to send this heavy system. The box was very beaten up when it arrived. And judging from the noise that it makes when I move it, there were loose parts inside. Not safe for a unit that handles power. I called Panamax to let them know about the packaging issue and was told that purchases from Amazon are not under warranty. I called the Amazon seller for a refund, they calim that it was a manufactuering defect that happens from time to time. When has the poor packaging and loose part become manufactuering defect?
I have to pay for the shipping both way to get the refund. An awful experience.

I have the entire ex line (5100,5300,5400 and 5500).
They are all good and yes with every level you can see and hear a difference. I finally grabbed the 5500 a week ago, and it made a difference not only in sound, but in picture also. I am a sales consultant for media/home theater rooms, so I'm speaking from experience. This is the real deal, and yes while the monster power centers are good, this is in another catagory all together.
