Don't be sucked in by the hype. At face value, this is a cute and supremely packaged toy, which states right on the front in big bold letters "everything you need to create 84 cool fashions". However, when you actually open the package there are 4 (yes four) tiny scraps of cloth inside ... which will make you exactly 4 shirts OR four pairs of shorts....certainly not both... 84 FASHIONS? There were three 2-3 inch scraps of lace, 2 buttons, 3 little appliques, and NO markers, crayons, or anything else with which to make the outfits. THat's it. Thats all you get for 30 dollars.

I cannot tell you how disappointed my eight year old daughter was on her birthday because of this item. SHe had asked me for it for months, and made her wait for this as a special birthday gift.

This toy was a complete waste of my hard earned money, and it totally mispresented itself. If they wanted you to use materials you have on hand at home, they should have stated this, and should not have stated on the front of the package that everything was included for 84 outfits.

My 9 year old daughter saw this toy at a local store, and has has many hours of fun with it since. Sure, it doesn't come with a ton of cloth or trim, but we happen to have some substitutes: old magazines, newspapers, tissue (glue to backing for durability), and lots of colored pencils. Almost anything works, and if your child is reasonably creative, the enclosed materials will serve as a springboard for using household items for further designs. The patterns are simple enough for kids to cut out and to use over and over, and kids find the dolls very attractive.

Recommended by a 12 year old. Bought by a 10 year old. If they have help in the beginning following directions, it provides hours of creative fun. Once fabric is gone, you can use paper, buy scrap material and additional adornments. They have a website where you can get ideas and print new patterns. It uses school glue and additional magnets can be found or purchased thru their website. I usually do not rate items, however, this one did not seem to have a fair rating. Perhaps, it is enjoyed more by older girls.

Despite misgivings created by some of the reviews here, I went ahead and purchased the Fashion Angels for my daughter. She absolutely loves the set and realized readily enough that the materials included are just to give you ideas. She's begun harvesting all sorts of things -- for example, she made an outfit from the cloth on a badly broken umbrella and now is planning something from the ticket stubs from the butcher's counter at the supermarket (although i can't imagine what she'll make with those....). Anyway, i am excited to see how excited SHE is, and i credit the very good (if tiny) pamphlet that comes inside the Fashion Angels set for demonstrating the wealth of possibilities all around. The set has really got her thinking about new ways to see old things, which is wonderful. By the way, I've never written a review before, but since the other positive reviews I read here swayed me and gave me ideas, I thought I'd add my comments as well.

My 7 year old daughter loves crafts (she gets that from her mom). I saw the Fashion Angels at the toy store and thought she'd love them, but did some research first. I was a little worried about the "warnings" that the toy might be misrepresented. I purchased it anyway. I was a little disappointed in the amount of fabric that came with the set, but this is easily remedied by a quick trip to the fabric store, OR BY USING YOUR DAUGHTHER'S OLD BLUE JEANS, play clothes, etc. to make more outfits. We spent one of our holidays with girls aged 6 - 13 NON-STOP making outfits for the angels. It held ALL of the girls' attention for hours on end. BRAVO to The Bead Shop for a toy that doesn't get pushed to the back of the closet. This will be something that my daughter and I enjoy together for many years to come!

These dolls are truly angelic! What I love most is how they inspire girls (of all ages I might add) to use their imaginations and think outside the box when it comes to dreaming up fashionable fun. With an emphasis on using interesting materials and creativity to come up with stylish outfits, this toy transcends its genre and soars to a more highly sophisticated category that joins the ranks of clever craft books like Princess Crafts by Elizabeth Hauser and Crafty Girl by Chronicle Books. I would recommend this toy to any girl ready for a smarter, sassier approach to fashion.

I love Fashion Angels! They provided hours of fun for my girls. You can dress them up in all different kinds of outfits. After they were finished they packed everything up in the portfolio that comes with it. Great toy!

I am 14, and Love fashion angels. They are so much fun, and get me a chance to be creative. It comes with so much stuff, and yoou can build as many outfits as you want. I find it hard to believe, anyone could not like this toy.

I got my Fashion Angels kit from a friend for my birthday, and I absolutely love it!If you don't know what to get your daughter,niece,or friend for her birthday, get her this. It is a must have for girls that want to be fashion designers!
