Product Description

This is a high quality made mini DC water pump. It's built by a brushless motor so that it's more quiet and last longer than a non-brushless water pump. Plus,it will not generate any 'electric spark' (noise) like a brush type motor does so it's more safe to operate it in an area where flammable gas may exists.

I purchased this because I wanted a decent alternative to expensive "CPU" waterpumps. I'm not a chump. I understand that a DC water pump is a DC water pump, and almost all brands come from the same manufacturer. I picked this up because it was cheap and it was described as being able to pump oil and heavy liquids. I figured, hey why not. I got the item quite quickly (unlike the ones that were shipped from the Amazon Warehouse that took two weeks. Never again.) After getting everything installed and checked the pump worked flawlessly. Now that I'm a few months into it I'm starting to have failures. The pump almost never turns on, and the impeller is frozen. I have to whack the heck out of it with a screwdriver to get it spinning. I'd say it's just poor quality bearings. This pump is probably great for use with oily liquids but I do not recommend it being used in a PC at all. There have been several times where the pumps impeller froze during the day, and my computer went insane. Thank goodness I have temperature monitors running in the OS and a flow meter on the front of my PC. I can safely say the random failures would have brought down and damaged at least my GPUs beyond recovery.

TLDR : It's okay, but dont use these in a computer as they are advertised. If you do, your gonna have a bad time.

UPDATE : 23 June 2012.

Pump has totally failed. After taking it apart I found it had been chewed apart by the bearing. Poor quality plastics. I had a bad time.

So it's been 4 months since i bought 2 of these babies to liquid cool my computer, i've been waiting to see how long they'll actually last since these pumps need a slightly more detailed review.
Technically there are both still working, one is however on the verge of failure after 4 months 24/7 use. I'm thinking the reason i had a much better run with these than the others reviewers is that i used two for the loop and that i also have them hooked up to fan speed controller allowing for throttling back. Given 4*30*34 = 2880 hours of use before one showed an issue, so while it may have just been a lemon it's very much under the 20,000 hour life span said to be possible. I didn't expect 20,000 hours, but i kinda expected more than 3,000, although i really doubt computer cooling is the ideal environment for these. I imagine if these were pumping something like thin oil that they'd have lasted much longer. Also worth noting is i had these pumping through; cpu block, 2 mobo blocks and a fairly restrictive gpu block.

So end all is they're quite cheap, i'd recommend 2. Now with 2 that's over $45 usd. Still cheaper than one high quality pump, but one higher quality pump may last longer. So yeah, cheap, but cheap. I'm still in debate whether i want to buy another one to replace the failing one or just drop the cash for a name brand one and simplify my setup.

This product will probably run forever if it is NOT submerged. I used it under water and it leaked after a few days. For the money I would not hesistate to buy another one and simply plumb it so that the pump housing can stay dry.

The pump looked a lot bigger than it is. I was a little disappointed int he actual dimensions when I got it going it was OK, but not what I was expecting.
