TzN's back and better than ever!!,
This review is from: 111 Ciento Once (Audio CD)
Tiziano Ferro's debut "Rojo Relativo" was a fantastic blend of rock, gospel, and R&B sensibilities tied together with gentle ballads. On his second album "Ciento Once" (111), TzN sticks with a winning formula. On the Spanish version, eight of the thirteen songs are Spanish, with five being left in the original Italian (on Rojo Relativo nearly all the songs were translated). Tiziano translates beautifully to Spanish, and his diction is flawless. This time around the beats are edgier, the lyrics are sharper, and the presentation more polished overall. Tiziano's confidence and love of singing shine through, as well as his witty, heartfelt lyrics. His voice is an acquired taste: by turns raspy, immediate, and tender, it can be jarring on first hearing it. On "Ciento Once" we hear touches of his higher register, even brief falsetto croons, which sends me into a swoon every time. There are several parallels between "Rojo Relativo" and 111: mainly, two driving singles with similar sounds: Xverso's oh-so-naughty heavy breathing and sneered delivery evoke Xdona, the gentle declarations of Tardes negras bring to mind the haunting Alucinado (both Xdona and Aluciando are included as bonus tracks on this version). On "Ciento Once," Tiziano tries a novel new sound: jazz. On Temple Bar his smoky, husky voice works perfectly to his advantage on this gorgeous torch song. Master jazz pianist Dado Moroni coaxes out a melancholy backing, along with soprano sax and snare brushes. Other standouts include the quirky En el baño del aeropuerto, the hip-hop rhythmic Mi abuela and 10 Piegamenti, the tender ballads Tardes negras, No me lo puedo explicar, Quien no tiene talento enseña, and 13 años. There's not a stinker here, folks. No generic filler. No bubblegum lyrics. Only genuine TzN.

Really cool second album of this italian guy! =¬D,

This is Tiziano Ferro's second album. It contains 13 new songs + "Perdono" and "Alucinado" in the Latin American release! "Ciento Once" is a strong pop/dance introduction, followed by the first single "Perverso". The following songs are mostly spanish R&B and ballads (for those who expected rhythmic songs like me!), but "Tardes Negras" is beautiful! Another nice song is "13 Años", which can remind us to "Il Bimbo Dentro" from his first album, and "10 Piegamenti!" can remind us to "Primavera Nunca Fué" ("Primavera Non E Piu"). Also, 5 songs are in italian, and "Temple Bar" is even a cool 100%-pure-jazz song! Another cool pop-songs are "En El Baño Al Aeropuerto" and "Mi Abuela".Generally, it's a cool album: it may be a little difficult to digest at the beginning... but that's the magic of his music! And it's definitively a MUST for every TzN-fan! Grazie mille ed arrivederci a tutti! =¬D

tiziano's has definitely improved with "ciento once". i find almost all the songs on this album catchy, sensual, provocative, and a joy to listen to. tiziano has developed further his style and sophistication with this second album. good examples are "perverso", "tardes negras", the ultra-sexy "eri come l'oro ora sei come loro", and the provocative "ti voglio bene". tiziano's songs are r&b inspired, but his style is deliciously sophisticated. tiziano demonstrates how much of a cool cat he is as noted on "temple bar". i hope tiziano is considering releasing a strictly jazz album, as "temple bar" proves that he easily delivers emotional performances with his throaty, baritone voice. i enjoy this album more every time i listen to it. i would highly recommend "ciento once" as an introduction to tiziano ferro's music over "rojo relativo", although i must say that all versions of "alucinado", including "imbranato", make acquiring the first album so worth it.

I really like this CD. I first saw Tiziano Ferro when he appeared on television at the European Music Awards 2004. Normally I wouldn't buy a foreign CD (because it is in a different language) but Tardes Negras was just too beautiful. Tardes Negras is perhaps the most beautiful song I've heard in a long while. The CD is even better when you translate it! I think it helps to know a little Spanish before buying the CD or you'll just be totally lost.
Tiziano Ferro has some other awesome songs on this CD, I love Perverso and Ti Voligo Bene (even though it is in Italian so I really don't understand it). What I also really like about this CD is that Tiziano wrote all the songs himself and they aren't too European poppy and they also aren't like the Spanish songs you normally hear, and are turned off by, today. I totally recommend this CD for anyone, unless your like into haredcore rap. I'd also recommend rojo relativo which is another awesome CD of Tiziano Ferro.

it's nice that Tiziano and his record company understand the music industry it's on the verge of colapse, so they decided to included his two supreme hits of his previous work here as bonus track, it's surely a treat to anyone who do not owns the before, and that detail made me buy this, this is a very mature love album that would satisfied anyones taste for good music, TARDES NEGRAS is obscure and deep, PERVERSO it's upbeat and supreme, NO ME LO PUEDO EXPLICAR is one of those song you can't help to feel it, PERDONA it's great, ALUCINADO it's a very strong love song, the other tracks are just as nice, a very very logical album to buy.

I miss it so!romantic, sexy, energetic, catchy- pop at its best! I would buy it again! it is worth the investment.

A Beautiful and Well-written CD.,

I bought Tiziano Ferro's 111 Ciento Once cd just for the songs Xdono and Xverso and I ended falling in love with the whole cd, as well as with him. He has an enchanting voice and his lyrics are so original, besides being thruthful and real. My favorites are Ciento Once, Tardes Negras(which by the way, is the most beautiful love song ever)and Mi Abuela. I recommend that if you buy this cd and you like it, you should buy his former one, his debut cd, Rojo Relativo(or Rosso Relativo if you prefer listening to him in Italian). It's a younger but still impressing version of 111 Ciento Once. This is one of the few artists who actually impacts people with his music and isn't in it just for the fame of it. It's excellent!

Love, Lust, Life!,

You don't have to speak Spanish or Italian to enjoy this CD. I'm teaching myself Spanish, and since I don't get to hear it on a daily basis, I started listening to Mario Alberto's show on the local Spanish pop station (105.7 in San Jose) to stay exposed to the language. To my surprise, I fell in love with a lot of the music, and Tiziano Ferro's "Tardes negras" was one of the reasons why. Then I heard "Perdona" and when I found out he sang both songs, and they were BOTH on Ciento Once, I had to have it! And the more I listen to it, the more I like it.
Trying to translate the lyrics is good Spanish practice, but you don't have to understand what he's saying to be moved by his music. You can tell that "Tardes negras" is expressing love lost just by the music and the way he tells the story with his vocals. It's soulful and sad and sweet and he sings it with passion as he does every song on the CD, whether it's the sensual passion of "Perdona" (I'm telling you, that song's an aphrodisiac! [even though it's not about sex]), the torch song passion of "Temple Bar," the passion of love in "Alucinado," evoking the ethereal passion of beauty in "13 anos," or the simple, positive passion of "Quien no tiene talento ensena." These five are worth the price of the CD alone! He's an amazing talent, having written every song on the CD, which range from lovely, jazzy and funky to plain sexy, just like his voice. If you like pop music, you'll like this!

This cd can only be described as heavenly. It blends slow melodic songs like alucinado and tardes negras with catchy beats like perverso.Personally I don't really listen to spanish music but this cd was different. From the first time I heard TzN singing Tardes Negras on the MTV Europe Awards, I knew I had to have it. And I wasn't disappointed at all. Every song on the cd is catchy and it never gets boring. Most people say they play their cd through shuffle because it makes the cd more interesting, but with this cd there is no need for that. So all I can say is buy this cd.

I first heard this CD at a friend's house and I had to have it after hearing Tardes Negras. Tiziano's voice is so melodic and lovely. I never thought I would really love a pop cd, let alone one in Italian/Spanish. Rock on Tiziano!
