This book is strange. First of all, there's no mention of why the title is "111". That is a significant number for me, so I bought this book on a whim, and now I don't understand what it has to do at all with the content of the book. It's an eerie title, kind of mysterious, but the content of the book is theological. Maybe I missed the part covering the numbers? After getting half way through the book, I'll admit I had to stop reading.

The theological leaps made in this book are astonishingly bad, and I don't think any Bible scholar would agree with anything printed in this book, except perhaps that the Bible is God's holy word. Everything taken from the Bible and used in this book reflects a deeply flawed set of assumptions. If your initial assumptions are bad, you can make any combination of verses agree with your slant on an issue. This book proposes that Jesus was the embodiment of the Archangel Michael, and uses quite a few verses out of context to support the premise. Basically, Michael was called a prince in one or more verses, and since Jesus is the prince of peace, Jesus = Michael. By the same logic, Lucifer is the prince of the power of the air, so Lucifer = Airplane? I'm being silly, but...

I couldn't make much sense of the media content of the book in later chapters. It seems to be more focused on journaling the authors' thoughts than being put into a cogent book with logical hypotheses proven with references. Instead, it jumps around and makes random "proofs" out of Bible verses, then moves on as if the matter is settled.

I'm not a defender of any one faith or denomination, I was just interested in the book, and it did not deliver the goods.

Satan's plan of attack on the Kingdom of God is a devious, well-orchestrated and highly evolved one. According to Gary Flanigan and Luther Glenn Williams in 111: The Media War between Jesus Christ and Satan, it began in Heaven when Lucifer had aspirations of being equal to God. When he and his merry band of followers were booted out of Heaven, he took up his earthly name of Satan and began a campaign to destroy anything God created on earth, making himself an automatic enemy of Jesus Christ. His determination is to see that the Will of God doesn't prevail. They report his main mode of attack is through the media.

Flanigan and Williams use scripture and logical argument to lay the ground work that Satan as the "prince of the power of the air" has sufficient influence over the airwaves. He uses spiritual manipulation over the internet, television and radio. Entertainment over these mediums that ultimately disgraces any of God's commands plays right into Satan's hand. His hatred is so intense for Jesus Christ, that he wants nothing more than to use the Bible against those who profess Christianity to try to prove to them, in diminutive ways, he is in control. He will stop at nothing and use anything; therefore, one must be on a constant vigil to be studious in the Word and to "watch as well as pray".

Flanigan and Williams did a very thorough and equally enlightening job of describing evil's attachment in our lives as it pertains to how Satan diverts the Will of God in order to destroy the Kingdom of God. They explore the scriptures in detail, offering explanations and spiritual, as well as worldly examples to show how evil is being woven into our lives using the media. They cover such topics as biblical evolution, Theomatics (mathematical design of the Bible), the Sabbath day, cloning, and UFO reportings to name a few. This book has a wealth of information that at times was overwhelming. My advice is to read it in concert with a Bible handy. I found the topics covered informative and added to my knowledge in how to be more vigilant in my own life when faced with evil. After reading this book, I am sure readers will look differently at the Bible and find much to discuss within its pages.
