Beware that you will hear pops on many of these tracks. Gregory Isaacs Night Nurse extended for example has so many in one section of the song that it actually diminishes the value of listening to it. At least if this were the actual vinyl, you would be able to try to work them out, but you're stuck with them on this CD. Think about that before you drop the price for this CD that sellers want.

12" 80s Grooves, the most recent volume has a lot of great tracks on it. It falls short with me, however, as guys like me collected all of these tunes on the original 12" vinyl format and still have em. A lot of tunes i look for are quite elusive, even more so than the tunes represented on this cd, if that can be believed. Hopefully, they will dig even deeper on the next volume of this series.

I'd have to say that there's quite a stark contrast between the discs of this compilation. There's R&B, mainly. On the first disc, there's a bit of the 80s tinged R&B, but it sounds more like 70s style and a bit disco-ey. There's also hip-hop on the first disc. The second disc is more 80s music style tinged R&B, with new jack swing. The third disc follows suite , and the last 3 tracks are reggae.
Coming from someone with an interest in what the 12" 80s comps were doing, I find that this is quite a bit weaker than the others. For starters, there are numerous album and short versions, perhaps a bit more than normal, or more noticeable. The first disc is weak, with some good songs; the rest is hip-hop, with the longest song (Me Myself and I) being 9 minutes of 3 different melodic samples, one of which sounds an awful lot like the beginning of Don't Stop Till You Get Enough by Michael Jackson, and 70s style music. The second disc is much more of what I was looking for; 80s style music. It's my favorite disc, and it earns 5 shining gold stars, in spite of a few album versions. The third disc is somewhat in between; the reggae songs seem a bit misplaced for some reason.
In spite of it's faults, I like it. You'll find good songs on all three discs; it really all depends on what you like and what you're looking for.

When you have new Singer, like never heard before it is fine to claim for track examples.
But 60% of these 12" hits, are every day music.If you love dance music +80's this collection of extended mixes is great. price is fine.
