12 Bird Warblers - party favor toys

I gave these out at a carnival as prizes for the games. Apparently kids "these days" don't know to put water in them. I saw kids blowing in them once, declaring them "broken", and tossing them down! So I had to demonstrate what they do when you add water. There are no instructions with them, so be sure you mention that. I think they're pretty fun- a good memory of my childhood. Mine came with an even number of all 4 colors.

Our son found a bird whistle he liked at a small local toy store. It was $5, I wasn't willing to shell out five dollars for one whistle! So, we bought these for his 4th birthday as favors and I was excited to see his reaction to giving them out to his friends. Well, thank goodness we tried them out first! I knew they needed water, so that was no problem, although I began to question it as soon as I started blowing on one because no sound (other than the sound of wind going out the many holes) came out. So, I dumped out the water, sure enough, still nothing!

It's such a simple idea, I don't understand why they cannot get the design right to make a sound, The plastic is terrible and could be easily squished in my 2 year old's little hand. Although, I don't know if he is going to get his little hands on one, because I am not sure that I want a bunch of kids complaining about how their whistle is broken.

I think next week we will plan a trip to the small independently owned toy store and I'll break down and get the little guy the five dollar whistle, since I will be (hopefully) returning these to the seller. We will see how that goes!

I tried my luck, based on the 4 and 5 star reviews. But the 1 stars had it. This absolutely does not work, no matter how much water, how hard or how lightly you blow. They just do not work. I hope I can get other party favors in time. What a big fat waste of money and plus it got my hopes up. The people who posted the 4 and 5 star reviews are simply lying or else their product was VERY different from what was mailed to me.

These are extremely poorly made and do not work at all. They're obviously not expensive but you might as well set fire to your money before you bother buying these things. It will just frustrate the kids.

Don't waste your money - these birds don't warble... or whistle for that matter. These are not the bird warbles I had as a kid in the 80s and they really don't work at all. My husband and I tried varying amounts of water added to them and still just junk. BE WARNED - JUNK JUNK JUNK.

I purchased these thinking they were like one I had picked up locally that worked perfectly. The kids really loved it and I wanted to pick some up for a party. Unfortunately, these bird warblers have a design flaw that makes them absolute trash. I posted a picture to illustrate the difference. The birds with the whistle opening above the tail don't work at all. The birds with the whistle opening beneath the tail work great. They also cost more money but I wouldn't waste a penny on these bad ones because you really can't give them to children - they do nothing at all. They don't even whistle.

The package came with no directions. I came back to amazon to see how to use them. Oh add water. Ok. Yes, that worked. However, I got water all over me because they leak.

I would only recommend these for a summer outdoors party. Tell the party goers they will get wet. The Warblers might be fun on a hot day where no one has to worry about getting themselves, the floors or furniture wet.

I remembered these from years ago and had to order a bag for an interactive lecture I was giving. Most seemed to work fine, if you remember to put water-but not too much-in the resevour. The only problem I encountered was that several of them leaked! I believe it was all of one particular color-possibly yellow. Other than that quality issue, they were fun and definitely worth the price.

These should be fun! I ordered these for prizes for our Children's Christmas Party. I don't remember the item saying you have to put a small amount of water in it for it to work, but it really sounds like a chirping bird! Really cute. Small Toys does not ship overseas, but ships quickly in the states. I would definitely recommend these little warblers though. I ordered through Amazon.
