4.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating Music
This album is an unexpected breath of fresh air in the current music scene. I heard one of the tracks from this album on a local radio station, so I took a chance in ordering it, and I love it. The songs are catchy and the lyrics are memorable. This album has an array of song styles and two vocalists; I've listened to it in my car from tracks 1-12 numerous times and...

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting Album - * * *
I found the variety of styles on this record very entertaining. Kind of a smorgasboard of 60s-80s rock. The songs and performances are very good though the production at times seems a little muddy. Also, the album seems to start with a bang, wander around in the middle and then finish strong. Overall a fun album and I love the cover!

This album has an array of song styles and two vocalists; I've listened to it in my car from tracks 1-12 numerous times and have not had the urge to change cds. I'd highly recommend this cd to anyone willing to take a chance on new music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not your "Dime a Dozen" album., September 22, 2005

Girl for Samson offers a refreshing drink in a parched landsape with "12." The shadow in the lyrics and musical patterns will cling to you long after you've turned it off and you'll hear something new the next time you play it. Fantastic effort by this KC band.

This album is unlike many of the albums in my collection. The assortment of songs vary in tone and mood, making an interesting listening experience.

Wondering when we will see more...

With its swift tempo, mood and style changes throughout, Girl For Samson's debut CD is a nice little diamond in the current 'mine full of dirt' that is the music industry. GFS seem to capture the fun spirit of 60's and 80's rock with their tuneful hooks, and brave exploration of eclectic musical styles. Not everything works but when it does - it's very cool. 'Peteena', 'Always' and 'Noggin/ Babble' all grabbed me right away with their catchy refrains. I dare anyone to listen to this Cd and not find themselves humming 'Noggin' the next day.... Positively not mainstream but definitely worth a listen or 12.

The album's got it's share of stinkers but when these guys are on, they're matching wits with "the white album" and "midnight vultures." Was worth sitting through to find my favs.
Avoid the tune "delerious," program "flap" into your ipod.
strident.
