5.0 out of 5 stars Value Value Value and Non-stick!
This is my favorite pan. I am now hooked on non-stick Anolon cookware. This fry pan is a great size with deep sides with plenty of room for a whole fried chicken, for cooking up pasta dishes, just right for bacon slices, and cooks 4 supersized burgers at a time. I use a steel mesh splatter lid to contain the grease splatters during fying which works fine because this...

1.0 out of 5 stars Did I Get a Reject?
I'd wanted a pan like this forever. Couldn't wait to receive it. Very nice, heavy and flat. But...EVERYTHING STICKS!! Am I doing something wrong? I've never really had a nice pan like this. Am I cooking on too high heat maybe? As I said, I've always used cheap, thin pans. Maybe I don't know how to cook using a good pan, but everything sticks...not just eggs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Value Value Value and Non-stick!, November 7, 2003

This is my favorite pan. I am now hooked on non-stick Anolon cookware. This fry pan is a great size with deep sides with plenty of room for a whole fried chicken, for cooking up pasta dishes, just right for bacon slices, and cooks 4 supersized burgers at a time. I use a steel mesh splatter lid to contain the grease splatters during fying which works fine because this pan does not come with a lid.

Clean-up is sooo easy. I have yet to find anything, melted cheeses, eggs, sauces, that will stick to this pan. Just a little dish detergent and a few swipes of a wet wash cloth cleans it beautifully. I have not put the pan in my dishwasher but this has been my policy with all non-stick pans since I started buying them, so I'm not sure how it would fair being washed that way.

As far as construction, the pan is made well. The handle is securely rooted to the pan with no hint of ever coming loose. It's easy to grip and lift and stays cool during cooking. The pan itself is heavy and the surface promotes very even cooking.
The pan resists stains, as well.

When considering all of the above, the price is so reasonable, almost a steal. I highly recommend you buy this pan.

4.0 out of 5 stars a great pan at a great price, March 21, 2004

I purchased this pan a year ago on a whim, largely because Amazon was practically giving it away. I figured that if the pan turned out to be a dud, I wouldn't have lost much money.

The pan is thick (and thus heats evenly), but is still easy to manipulate. The handle (nylon?) stays cool to the touch. The nonstick coating has held up beautifully--food just slides right out of it. Just remember to NEVER USE METAL UTENSILS! (I put a very small scratch in mine by grabbing a metal spatula once without thinking. Fortunately, the scratch didn't penetrate through the nonstick coating, but I should have known better.)

The only reason I'm giving this pan 4 stars instead of 5 is because it doesn't come with a lid, which is necessary for some cooking tasks. (When I need a lid, I just grab the lid from my wok; it looks ugly, but it mostly works.)

Note that this pan comes in two versions: the Classic version (this version), and the Professional version. The only real difference is the handle: the Professional version has a metal handle and is oven-safe up to 500 degrees F; the Classic version is limited to 350 degrees F. Choose whichever one makes more sense for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars super skillet, November 12, 2004
This review is from: 12 Inch Deep Open Skillet
The is a very heavy skillet, so weak-wristed people should take this into consideration. It's a very well constructed skillet, nice deep sides. No oil splatters with shallow side pans. The handle is very strongly riveted to the skillet, so you don't have to worry about picking it up with the handle. I have a very expensive aluminium skillet this size lose the handle because it was too weakly made to the skillet. I don't see that happening with this one. It's big enough to handle five hamburger paddies. The pan is thick so it heats evenly, the handle stays cool. I received the Pro version with the metal handle.

Season the skillet before cooking eggs. Other wise it's a dream.

I am off to order another because you will want more than one!

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

This is an awesome skillet. It is the same quality of my calphalon non-stick skillets and is much more affordable. I also purchased the Farberware 12-Inch Glass Lid on amazon for 9.99. It fits perfectly and the glass lid is handy because you can see when things are done without releasing heat. It is an awesome value purchased together for close to 30 dollars. I use this pan so often that I wish I hadn't bought some of the other non-stick pans I had purchased previously. I have a glass top stove (not my choice-came with the house) and it heats evenly. Love it!!

I have waited to review this pan until I knew that it would wear well. I've had it for months now, and it's still as good as new and still doing a great job. It's perfect for all those creole dishes and coarse-cut hashes that usually slop over the sides of the pan when stirred. I use it for stir-fry in preference to my wok. I have a ceramic cooktop; the bottom of this pan is beautifully flat.

Let me also say that I know you're not supposed to, but I clean this pan in the dishwasher. (Moi? Wash pots?) So far I see no indication that this has hurt anything. I'm not sure, but it may void the warranty; but honestly, I'm not too worried about the warranty on a $20 pan.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Skillet, April 8, 2003

I love this skillet - it could be slightly better, but overall it is fantastic.

I bought this because it was such a great deal - it was a no-lose situation. It is just big enough to fit four pieces of bread on the bottom - making it great for french toast and grilled sandwiches. It is deep enough that it is a great pan for anything that spatters - although my wife seems to stick to the other pans we have for some reason, and we get spatter everywhere. But when I've used it with oil, it works great.

The only issue with it is that it is deep enough that it can be tough when trying to get the spatula into it. But if you're using it with the right purpose in mind, it works really well. Just tough when I've tried to use it for eggs - can't really get in and flip them well. But great for grilled sandwiches, french toast, etc... - where you need more surface area.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous pan!!, May 29, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: 12 Inch Deep Open Skillet
I LOVE this pan!! NOTHING sticks in it - nothing! I thought I would find a 12" pan too large for a two-adult household, but I was wrong - I use this pan nearly every day. Plenty of room, no need to crowd food in this pan and cleans up like a dream. My only problem is that because it's so large, it is a bit heavy, but that's minor compared to how much I love using it. I also ordered the 12" Farberware glass lid, which fits this pan perfectly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pleasantly surprised!, October 16, 2002
This review is from: 12 Inch Deep Open Skillet
Needed to replace "very best/favorite" 20 year old skillet; did not expect to like this skillet but I was pleasantly surprised. The heavy-weight and finish far exceeded my expectations.

But the absolute best part was the price! It got this skillet on sale,...and free shipping! Where can you get such a deal? I am thinking this skillet will take over as my "favorite".

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT Skillet!!!, November 27, 2002

I love using this skillet! I made chili in it the first night and it came out wonderful (I give the pan credit for this). It works well for everything you could imagine. The only thing is that I wish it came with a lid. I didn't take any stars off for that though because it would truely be a steal at twice the price.

As with all nonstick pans, be sure not to put this in your dishwasher. It's easy enough to wash by hand anyway because stuff just runs right off of it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great even if cooking for one, January 4, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: 12 Inch Deep Open Skillet
This skillet is really big. I thought I would not use it that often because of the size. However, even when I am cooking for 1 or 2, I make the entire recipe (enough for 4-6) and freeze the rest for later. It is a joy to be able to sauté onions, peppers and mushrooms with plenty of room to stir them. In my regular 10" skillet they are so thick (because it is smaller) that I have to constantly stir them and it takes longer to sauté. The non-stick surface is great on this pan.
