The Ice Scraper and Melter was a meltdown.
Ric
The heating element works nicely but the plastic used on this item is FAR too weak and brittle to be of any use in an actual winter environment.
RecSpec
The element did get hot, but in 30 degree temp, it did not scrape the heavy frost.

Although the concept is awesome, the follow-up operation fails to meet expectations in a dramatic way. Not only does the unit not heat up enough to start the melting process of the accumulated ice/frost, the scraping end itself is not durable enough to clear the windows.
We live in north central Alabama, so cold mornings are nothing new to us. It is not uncommon for us to have to scrape the windows every morning, sometimes removing a thin layer of frost, other times having to deal with a fairly thick layer. I found that this product wasn't helpful in either instance.
In the time that it takes the element to heat up enough to be remotely effective, your car defroster has had ample time to start clearing the windows from the inside.
I tried timing the heating element, giving it 1, 3, 5 then 7 minutes to heat up prior to attempting to use it, to no avail.
The vendor that I purchased it from issued me a prompt refund, in full. I was very pleased with their service & would eagerly shop with them again.

Over priced and far less efficient than scrapers I've owned in the past. Takes forever to heat up and then still doesn't scrape well

Used this for the first time this morning. Did not work as advertised. The element did get hot, but in 30 degree temp, it did not scrape the heavy frost. I worked on the passenger side first and it looked like I just used my credit card to scrape the glass. I decided to let the defroster finish the job. I now have 8 scratches on the windshield of my 1 month old truck (passenger side) from using this product.

This is my second unit ( shut the last one in the car door then ran it over! The heat element still worked but toasted scraper shell,! This works good with or without heat turned on. I preheat before scraping. Wish I could say can't wait to use this product but not a fan of hot weather or cold
Lol.
Anyways good solid unit

Very disappointed in this. We live in Chicago area and I was very hopeful this would be a useful gift. I bought three. One for my son, one for my husband and one for myself. I will be returning them as soon as I can get this back from my son. He bought his first new car a few months ago, and on first use, this scraped his windshield. I definitely don't recommend this.

All these electric "ice melter" devices are a scam. The 12V coming out of a cars lighter socket isn't anywhere near enough power to melt any reasonable amount of ice. Buy yourself a decent ice scraper or spray the windshield with an alcohol or other chemical based deicer. Wish the FTC was more aggressive at going after people selling stuff that obviously doesn't work.

I threw these away after two tries.

A long scraper worked faster and a whole hell of a lot better.
