5.0 out of 5 stars wonderful gem!
This is truly a beautiful book, with a great scholarly introduction. I learned so much about Simenon. For those who love him, this is a must read in terms of his development and a wonderful vue of the seedy side of the city of lights. Elegant translation and a wonderful read. I loved discovering a new detective: Froget. A true delight!!

2.0 out of 5 stars An immature Simenon
If one is used to and captivated by Simenon and especially his psychological thrillers this immature work though extremely popular in its day will be diappointing. On the other hand there is so much Simenon out there it is also a poor introduction to the later master and might prevent one from delving deeper or further.
