5.0 out of 5 stars A True Chill in the Air, July 6, 2010

This review is from: 13 Horrors of Halloween (Thirteen Horrors of Halloween) (Paperback)
This is my favorite horror anthology I own (and I own a lot). It is short but packs a trememdous wallop! The stories within this book provide a true chill in the air and give the exact atmosphere one is looking for when trying to welcome the spooky atmosphere of the October month. Halloween is my favorite holiday and this book is part of the reasons why. It captures the Halloween spirit and scares we all love. The stories are all spooky and scary but I remember that some of them truly terrified me when I was younger (and still do to this day). Stories such as "Unholy Hybrid," "The October Game," "Pumpkinhead," "Yesterday's Witch," and "Halloween Girl" really do create a feeling of fright and celebrate all that is wonderful about Halloween. This book will truly put one in the mood for the autumn and the darkness of the year.

5.0 out of 5 stars Possibly the BEST Horror Anthology I own, October 4, 2007

This review is from: 13 Horrors of Halloween (Thirteen Horrors of Halloween) (Paperback)
I found this little treasure in a used book store a few years ago. These are the kind of short stories I'm always looking for in a horror anthology!

I read a lot of horror and lots of short stories, and am very often disappointed by anthologies I pick up. This one is filled with creepy, moody stories that are fun to read every Halloween! My two favorites are "Pumpkinhead" by Al Sarrantonio and "The Circle" by Lewis Shiner. I read "Pumpkinhead" out loud to friends (in the dark, by candlelight) just about every Halloween. These are real classics. The cover art by William Teason is awesome, too.
