Halloween Fun!,
By Kathy Van Horn (Snohomish, WA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The 13 Nights of Halloween (Paperback)
This delightful Halloween story about a goblin who brings gifts to his sweetheart during the 13 nights before Halloween begs to be sung to the familiar tune of 12 days of Christmas. Rebecca Dickinson's illustrations are exquisitly detailed and provide kids with hidden creatures to find. As a teacher, I use this book as a motivation for my students to write their own descriptive Halloween stories. We have a great time with this book!

A Child's Delight,

This review is from: The 13 Nights of Halloween (Paperback)
My little goblins can't get enough of this shy little guy and his sweetheart. The pictures alone are enough to keep them amused for ... well, maybe not hours ... but quite awhile! Put it to the tune of The Twelve Days of Christmas", and there you have it - the perfect Halloween sing-along for family & fiends!

I have had the grand opportunity to meet the author....This is a book that I highly recommend to people of all ages. The brillantly colorful pages filled with so much detail make you want to read it over and over, each time trying to find something new that you didn't noticed before!

This small picture book keeps me coming back again and again. No matter how many times I look at it, I seem to find something new hidden in the bright, detailed illustrations. The bonus is that the story is also a happy Halloween story, a rariety in itself. These goblins won me over.
P.S. I bought the book for my kids, but I enjoyed it so much, that I keep it high on the shelf so they won't hurt it. If they're really, really good I'll read it to them before bed.

The 13 Nights of Halloween,
This review is from: The 13 Nights of Halloween (Paperback)
This is my childrens' very favorite book! They loved it as toddlers and now that they are pre-teen, they still ask to read it the entire month of October every year. Our entire family sings it together and it's just one of those memories I'll treasure for a lifetime. What an amazing book - so simple, but bringing so much fun into our Halloweens!

Sung to the tune of the 12 Day of Christmas, my four year old loves this one. The detailed pictures are amazing, fun and not too scary. This is one of our favorite Halloween books.
