5.0 out of 5 stars Works great, transferred miniDV tapes to imovie 09 for mac
My version is actually a black cable. It works. Our Sony TRV19 camera won't record video anymore, so we got a new JVC everio HM200 HD camcorder, but needed to transfer the video from the sony miniDV tapes to the computer. That process only works with this cable type, not a USB cable. I'm half way through the tape transfers right now, working perfectly. Set the camera to...

1.0 out of 5 stars BEWARE: Does not work with IMac 2009!
Let it be known that I am a brand new iMac owner. I was excited to receive this cable so I could start transferring video from my Mini DV camera, like other reviewers had successfully done. Several reviewers celebrated being able to use this cable on their Macs and get iMovie to run their video that was recorded on Mini DV style cameras.

Problem is that...

This review is from: 1394a FireWire 6-pin to 4-pin Cable - 1M (Electronics)
My version is actually a black cable. It works. Our Sony TRV19 camera won't record video anymore, so we got a new JVC everio HM200 HD camcorder, but needed to transfer the video from the sony miniDV tapes to the computer. That process only works with this cable type, not a USB cable. I'm half way through the tape transfers right now, working perfectly. Set the camera to the VCR setting (for playback) and imovie 09 finds it, rewinds the tape for you and imports everything perfectly. This cable saved 10 hrs of memories for us. Cheap and useful.

This cable does exactly what I needed it to do. I used it to connect my Canon HV30 to my MacBook Pro and then import footage into iMovie '08. No hassles whatsoever. The cord is plenty long enough and looks sturdy enough to hold up for as long as I'll ever need to use it.

Bought this for use with my Canon HV30 camcorder. Works great, and the quality is better than I expected at this price point.

Problem is that this is the wrong cable. It is not compatible with the firewire port on the 2009 Imac. With the delivered cost of $4.45, it's not worth trying to return. Just bummed that I wasted a week and a few bucks thinking this was a score.

There's not a lot to say about a cable, really, except that it worked perfectly as advertised so I'm giving it five stars.

Don't let the low price fool you. It's a very good product. Heavy gauge wire and solid connectors. I was finally able to transfer videos from my Mini DV camcorder to a PC.

Got this to connect a Sony Handycam (DCR-H32 NTSC) to my iMac so that I can transfer my home movies from Mini DV to my computer. Works just as it is supposed to and costs basically the price of cheap shipping. The cable is just as pictured with a clear coat and metallic looking inner shield. I admit I chose this one over others of similar price due to the look. It kind of matches my iMac. Call me vain...

Truthfully, I was expecting the worst, since I paid so little, but I was pleasantly surprised! Very happy with this product. However... we upgraded computers and the new one doesn't have firewire. Sadface...

This wire saved me in my classroom - it allowed me to view video of student projects that I would not have been able to grade otherwise.

Cable only worked for 2 minutes before it failed. Luckily I didn't need to use this cable immediately, I have another one on the shelf. Thought I would pick up a spare.
