Intelligible or not, these girls rock. Punk does not get more raw and real than this.

YOU NEED THIS ALBUM,
By Punk Rock Girl (Madison,WI) - See all my reviews
This review is from: 13th Round (Audio CD)
This album was recommended to me by a friend. It is the most amazing album I have heard in years. Sometimes the lyrics are a little hard to understand, but the music is makes it worth it. If you are a fan of true punk music, you need to listen to this album!

Bloody Awesome Album,
By A Customer
This review is from: 13th Round (Audio CD)
When a childhood buddy recommended this album to me I knew it couldn't miss. Three Japanese girls singing street punk is truely exciting by all means. Thug Murder isn't one of those poser punk bands living in a garage saying whatever will sell them a cd. These lovelys earn their beer money with arse kicking songs that hype you up like true punks is suppose to. Make your well deserved four clics on the mouse and purchase the bloody cd now, you won't regret it.....

Hearing "Double Fist" from the Punch Drunk II album got me curious. Hearing some of the samples got me interested. But there whole cd takes the cake!! The music is just so addicting. When you add this album to your punk collection you won't be dissappointed!!!

Barely five foot, Japanese trio taking it to the Street!,
By John Tonic (Grand Jct. CO, USA) - See all my reviews

This female Japanesse trio sound tougher than railroad spikes. The vocals are all in english although it's somtimes hard to make them out. A lyric sheet is included so you'll bealbe to figure out what their saying, but some of it still won't make sence. Yet, I still find my self singing along to songs like "Calling", "13th Round", "Dice", "Restart", "Double Fisted" and thier cover of "I Fought the Law". Thug Murder play better street punk than half their American counter parts.

dropkick murphy hanger-ons?,
This review is from: 13th Round (Audio CD)
first time i ever heard japanese chick punk! this one is worth having, if only for the cover of "i fought the law". they sure are loud fast and enthusiastic. currently (4/01) touring with the dropkick murphys and well worth catching, but get there early, they play first. go ahead and spend the 12 bucks at the show and get all three girls to sign your cd. someday, at least in japan, they may be stars

Thug Murder will punch you in the face!,
By James Squeaky (The City that Works) - See all my reviews

Take the tired old stereotype standard of any genre and put it into the hands of three small Japanese girls and you're bound to get an enthusiastic and heart-filled interpretation. In Thug Murder's case, we get a new twist on the whole street-punk (think Dropkick Murphys) genre: normally a genre that I am entirely uninterested in, but Thug Murder somehow make it interesting. The best comparison I've seen of Thug Murder is if you took Shonen Knife and for some reason, they started writing Rancid songs instead. The songs are extremely upbeat and positive. The lyrics are absolutely nuts and most songs make very little sense, except in a general way, like if I were to start a band and all the songs were written in the French that I remember from the three years I took of it in High School. Some of my favorite lyrics: <BLOCKQUOTE>Fooligans gather in the pit Scream and shout the punk rocker Peace therefore bad six sense Don't call them the "free youth"</BLOCKQUOTE> Also, an incredible cover of the Clash's "I Fought the Law" that renews my lost faith in covers having any validity. The guitar, bass, drum combo punches the spikes right off your leather jacket. The songs are extremely simple and to the point. I like them quite a bit. |
