14.4-Volt 3300 mAH NiMH Replacement Battery For iRobot Roomba Discovery 500 Series Robotic Vacuums

First, this battery did not come with a label that shows the brand name and power rating, which questions the quality. It worked for about 1hr for the first time before roomba signaled for docking. After recharging overnight it worked for 30mins before roomba signaled for docking. Now the battery does not work for more than 20 minutes. The advertisement says it can work for up to 2hrs and I expect it to live up to 85% of the claim. It is even worse than the original battery that came with the roomba. I think the manufacturer needs to send me another one that will hold up to that claim.

I decided to purchase this 3300 mAH battery and pay the extra four or five dollars. The delivery time was very fast. I ordered it Sunday afternoon and it arrived early afternoon on Wednesday. I put it in my Roomba and let it charge for maybe half an hour. Then I couldn't wait any longer and put it on its mission. I cannot recall ever seeing my iRobot Roomba 530 with this much vigor even when it was new. The old NiCad battery never did have much pep. The new NiMH battery is even pushing my dining room chairs a little before it backs off. My wastepaper basket is definitely in a new location. I do not recall seeing a specification label on the NiMH battery I received. I'll pull off the bottom backing place of the Roomba and check again. I would like to know it is at least labeled as 3300 mAH. I paid an extra $5 to get 3300 mAH versus 3000 mAH.

Update: I let it charge overnight and then turned it on to vacuum 4 large rooms. It ran with vigor for a full hour before returning to the docking station to recharge. I don't know if it was running low on power or just thougth it had finished the job. But when I opened the dirt trap, I was really surprised to see so much cust and debris. I've never seen that much dirt on one pass previously. In fact, it had as much dirt as five passes with the old NiCad battery. It is obvious from the noise it makes and how it zips around that this NiMH battery is far superior to the original NiCad battery.

When I checked the price today, Amazon has it back in stock, but at a significantly higher price. I was about to order another battery for my upstairs Roomba, but now I may have to consider the cheaper 3000 mAH NiMH battery listed elsewhere on Amazon.

For the price of this replacement compared to what you pay if you get it from iRobot directly, this is a no brainer.
I have been using this for the last 4 months and its held up quite well. I'm quite pleased with the performance.

I installed the battery and plugged in my Roomba 530. The slow charge blink came on normally. After only 15 min the charge light was solid green. That seemed odd since NiMH battery self discharge over just a few weeks, normally a newly purchased battery is very nearly fully discharged and needs hours to charge.

I left Roomba on the charger for a full 24 hours before running it with the new battery. Roomba only cleaned for 15 min before the power light went red and Roomba stopped. I put it back on the charger. This time Roomba charged for about 2 hours before showing fully charged. Again I left it on the charger overnight.

The second time I ran Roomba with the new battery it did much better. It ran about 45 minutes and finished a large room without running out of power.

The trouble started when I put Roomba on the charger after that second run. After connecting the charger the slow charge light started but switched to an alarm blink in about 10 seconds. It blinked the trouble once per cycle, indicating that Roomba could not detect the battery. I slid Roomba off the dock, and hit the power button. Sure enough Roomba started up. I shut Roomba off and put it back on the charger. Same result. I supposed the battery was hot, so I left Roomba off the charger overnight and tried again the next day. Same result.

I opened the battery compartment and cleaned all four contacts on both Roomba and the battery. When I reconnected the battery Roomba made the familiar boot up sound. I closed up Roomba and put it back on the charger. Still would not charge.

I returned the battery to Amazon for a full refund. Thanks Amazon for paying for return shipping and promptly crediting my account. Because I bought it with free shipping through Amazon Prime I wasn't out any money.

I then bit the bullet and bought a $70 battery direct from iRobot. So far it has done about 10 cleaning and recharge cycles without any problems.

Buying this product wasted my time, but fortunately not my money.

Shipping was fast, the battery was just like they said, it fit and works for a long time. It sure makes the Roomba work better,

I bought this to take to Europe with me, as work was sending me away again for 10 months. I knew my old battery had limited life.
In the new year my old battery finally died and I was really pleased to have the spare with me. Well what a disappointment.
The roomba worked for 1 hour then a red flashing light and the red flashing warning light. After a week of investigation I discovered the battery was at fault and would not hold the charge!!

I have now returned it from Europe!! which is an expensive pain!!! and wait for my re-fund!! Gutted, I have a non working roomba now!!!

Replacement battery does not last as long as the OEM battery. Before the Roomba could clean 4 rooms, now it only cleans 2 rooms. I guess you get what you pay for.

The box was labelled as a 3300mAH battery, but the battery itself was labelled as a 3000mAH. The battery does seem to work fine.

Received Battery promptly! Fit my iRobot 580 exactly as stated.
After the first full charge, my iRobot now runs longer and works like new again. Great savings compared to the price of this replacement battery I would have paid if I got it from iRobot directly. Overall, excellent value for the money. Would definitely order this battery again! Would recommend this seller and product to my friends and family.

It works GREAT! It outlasts my other Roomba by at least 2X the time! It (mysteriously) also seems to have a better suction power and is getting far more dust out of my area rug than ever before!
