Book Description

August 1993
"14 Contemporary Styles" by Andrew Gordon is a unique 78 page book packed full of examples of how to play in the following musical styles:

* Rock

* Latin

* R&B

* Country

* Calypso

* Reggae

* Jazz

* Blues

* Gospel

* New Age

* Hip-Hop Each example is between 32 to 48 measures in length featuring melody line, rhythm keyboards, bass line and drums, perfectly notated, for studying how each musical part is put together in a "band like situation". Common chord progressions associated with each style are used. An explanation of each style is presented along with advanced chord theory and voicings. Play in the styles of todays most popular keyboardists including Herbie Hancock, Yanni, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Teddy Riley, Michael McDonald, Eddie Palmieri, Nicky Hopkins, Keith Emerson, Dr. John, Jimmy Smith etc. Although this product is directed mainly for keyboardists/pianists, other musicians such as guitar players, bass players, woodwind and brass players have used it for their on going study. CD recorded at both normal and slow tempos. Playing along with the CD is like having a mini-private lesson with a back-up band as accompaniment each time you sit down to practice.
