5.0 out of 5 stars Moms United in Humor!
Jen's take on the long, long, long, long day with little ones is true! Trust me, my angels are 10, 9, 5, 3 & 2 and I have counted the hours until bedtime many afternoons.

Jen unites all Moms in the realization that we are all doing the best we can! And if we can't laugh, why bother???

Thanks Jen for your honesty!

3.0 out of 5 stars Some humor, but still a bit dark
I have three little ones at home, our oldest is 4 and he has twin brothers that are 19 months younger. I find that when I get together with other parents in similar situations we are always laughing about the things our kids do and the realities of life with little ones. I always find that after one of those sessions I feel recharged as a parent. I was hoping this book...

5.0 out of 5 stars A delightful giftbook for stay-at-home moms everywhere, February 6, 2005
This review is from: 14 Hours Til Bedtime: A Stay-At-Home Mom's Life in 27 Funny Little Stories (Paperback)
14 Hours 'Til Bedtime: A Stay-at-Home Mom's Life in 27 Funny Little Stories is a stay-at-home mother's collection of insightful and chuckle-inducing true anecdotes. Whimsical sketches illustrate this funny and oh-so-true tour of everything from Feng Shui for toddlers to "15 Signs Mommy Needs a Little More Me Time" (sign #1: You've decided not to wash the red paint form today's art project off your fingers, because it's the closest thing to a manicure you've had all year). A delightful giftbook for stay-at-home moms everywhere.

I got this book as a gift from a friend and have so enjoyed it. It really struck a chord with me. I smiled from ear to ear as I read the book. Infact, I just ordered a few copies -- perfect Mom's day gift for many friends.

Great work - highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book spoke to me!, February 17, 2005
This review is from: 14 Hours Til Bedtime: A Stay-At-Home Mom's Life in 27 Funny Little Stories (Paperback)
Currently in the throes of new motherhood myself (two babies nineteen months apart, like the author), I really appreciated this humorous and HONEST take on being a SAHM. The writer also articulates what so many of us are afraid to admit: Staying at home with our kids is the toughest job we've ever had, and feeling this way comes with a guilty conscience - since society deems staying at home with your children a privilege. The book is a collection of smaller stories which can be read in installments - perfect for busy moms who can't sit for an afternoon or evening to devour a good book like we used to! Definitely a great baby shower gift with lots of laughs!

5.0 out of 5 stars 14 Hours 'Til Bedtime, April 28, 2006
This wonderful book got me through a rough time being the mother of small children. It was easy to read in the middle of diapers, naps, and playtime. She makes you laugh and feel good through her escapades as a mother. Jen Singer expresses "Mommy Hood" in a new light. Jen's website is an excellent source for Mommies who need a five minute break to brighten there day. Jen's book helped me realize there are other moms out there going through similar trials. I will forever be a loyal reader to her work. Thank you, Jen!

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm not alone!!!!!!!!, April 4, 2006
Some days I wake up and my first thought is, "I can't wait to go back to bed tonight." Jen Singer made me realize I was not the only one cleaning crayons out of toddlers teeth and starving for some adult conversation. I read most of this book sitting in the parking lot of my older kid's school while my two year old twins took the nap that I so desperately needed each day. The parents in the cars around me must have thought I had lost my mind as she had me reduced to tears and uncontrolable laughter at the same time. Thanks Jen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not Much changes Over the years, March 1, 2005
This review is from: 14 Hours Til Bedtime: A Stay-At-Home Mom's Life in 27 Funny Little Stories (Paperback)
14 Hours to bedtime is a hoot, but really on the mark. Even Grandmothers like me are enjoying the book. Motherhood hasn't changed much, just that the mothers today put most of their time towards their children. Perhaps they are forgetting their husbands and themselves. It is and has been difficult to spread yourself around to everyone, you actually forget what hat you have on at that moment. Jen Singer's book tells it the way it is with a lot of humor. It is written so that a busy young mother of today can read an excerpt in a few minutes and pick it up again later when the kids stop screaming. I hope Ms. Singer will keep on writing because she is very funny and honest.

5.0 out of 5 stars I loved this book--and so do my friends!, February 17, 2005
This review is from: 14 Hours Til Bedtime: A Stay-At-Home Mom's Life in 27 Funny Little Stories (Paperback)
With two kids under the age of 5, I need all the laughs I can get and this book made me laugh out loud. Ms. Singer basically describes my life--only funnier. I feel so much better after reading the book, because now I know that I'm not alone. And I love that the book is full of short, funny pieces that even I have time to read. I bought another copy for a friend (with two kids under the age of 3) who just raved about how much she loved it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Book for Busy Moms, February 16, 2005
This review is from: 14 Hours Til Bedtime: A Stay-At-Home Mom's Life in 27 Funny Little Stories (Paperback)
Jen Singer's book is hilarious. As a collection of short, funny pieces, it fits the lifestyle of busy moms who can't sit down and read a novel from cover to cover. And the best thing about it, besides Singer's wit and accomplished writing style, is that it touches on the universal things that all moms experience. You'll find yourself saying, "Hey, I've done that!" over and over.

I highly recommend it as a fun read and a great gift for a new mom.
