14" fry pan - how big is it? How do they measure these pans? Are they 14" from lip to lip or is the area in contact with the burner 14"? Trying to figure out whether I need 12" or 14"? If you have a 14", how large in diameter is the area in contact with the burner? thanks

Another post says it is 12" diameter on the bottom and just over 14" across the top.

Cuisinart model 722-36H "14 inch skillet"
measured at the top of this pan - 14 5/8" overall dia. - 14 1/8" inside dia.
area in contact with the burner - 11 7/8" dia.
Try restaurant supply websites for a suitable cover. For example, http://www.webstaurantstore.com/14-3-4-aluminum-pot-pan-cover/407APTC40.html This is a 14 3/4" aluminum pot/pan cover that has a 14" inner dia. Looks like that might fit.

It is HUGE. It almost covers half of my ceramic top range. And I overlooked the fact that the lid is not included. A lid costs almost as much as the pan. It is fabulous in making pancakes and I made a ROUND lasagna the other night. You have to use foil in making it the regular way so that's what I used to cover the round pan.

Definitely be sure to measure your cooktop size. Mine covers two electric elements!

Tin foil works very well. Did fried chicken and it was wonderful.
