14pc Folding ALLEN HEX KEY wrench set METRIC + SAE

I just needed the 7/32 inch hex for my bicycle, but I bought this contraption for the sake of having complete metric and sae sets. The constructions is all metal and seems sturdy enough to hold up against a decent amount of torque. however, the construction leaves something to be desired as get the individual hexes (especially smaller ones) out can be a slight pain. Also, they don't snap into place or anything, which would have been nice at 90°. The sizes are labeled on the back, but it doesn't really tell you which hex is which size without thinking about it.

Overall, it's a handy tool that is worth getting simply because of the price. It works well and seems like it won't fall apart or wear down quickly. It might be worth it to spring for the 2-piece stanley set or gettiing a set of individual hexes (which I will eventually). Given how often people lose hexes though, I can recommend picking up one of these just to have around.

Let me just start off by saying that this tool will get the job done. Now I will clarify that statement by saying that it might take you a little longer dew to the swearing. You see, this product has these two bolts on either end to keep the allen wrenches tight but the keep coming loose so while you are using it the wrenches fall all over the place.

This is tool will do the trick and be a great piece to my new tool set. Instead of buying a ton of separate Allen wrenches, this wrench set will fulfill the need well. Seems sturdy and like it will last a while.

I thought this tool by Cal-Hawk might be handy, as it has 14 different sized hex wrenches (SAE and metric), and the low price was a plus. Unfortunately, whoever designed this tool did not have practical application first in mind, as it is not well constructed and rather difficult to use.

There are several issues. Unlike most similarly designed fold out multi-wrench tools of this type, the wrenches do not lock down into the open position. The wrenches are loose, and can easily slip out accidentally. You can tighten up the nut on bolt that holds the wrenches in place, but if you make it too tight, some of the wrenches will not flip open. For some crazy reason, the two bolts that hold the wrenches in place are set too high. As a result, in the open position, most of the wrenches are not straight in line with the handle.

There are springs involved in the assembly, apparently to help return the wrenches back into the closed position. Why this was done is baffling, as a spring is not at all necessary. Because of spring tension, loose wrenches can spring back like a diving board. This attempt at innovation, is a complete flop.

At about 1.1 inches wide, this tool is wider than I expected. It's a little heavy as well, so if you have a smaller sized hand, it may not be that easy to handle. Mine came with a healthy coating of machine oil.

While this tool can be used to turn a screw, it is not well-designed or very convenient to use. In retrospect, I would rather have paid a little more, and purchased something more functional. I would also give careful consideration before buying anything made by Cal-Hawk again.

Wonderful to have everything conveniently at your fingertips. But as has been mentioned in another review, you'll work a little harder with these as getting the selected item to stay put while your twisting is something of a trick.

Burrs at the tips of the wrenches prevent proper fit when inserting into the hex screws. Better manufacturing needed for this product.

Great tool. Always have the size I need. It's a bit hard to get the proper leverage but the convenience trumps that.

This is set on a thin piece of sheet metal. The tool comes apart when you try to use it. Even though the price is low, it is not worth it.

The allen keys (or hex keys, what have you) are fine, but the mechanism to keep it all together is problematic. The nuts for one of the screws came off (and is now lost), thus partly dismantling the tool kit. As a result, half of the hex keys are now lying around in my room. The manufacturers should replace the regular nuts with nylock nuts - that stuff doesn't unscrew easily.

I fell victim to the "you get what you pay for" syndrome. I paid a 2 star price and I got a 2 star tool. Constantly comes loose and the keys fall out.
