5.0 out of 5 stars MERV 13 is definitely worth the cost
Always skeptical of a company's self-congratulations, I decided to give these Accummulair filters a try. (I usually just stuck with the MERV 11 Filterette variety...which run about $5 cheaper per filter.)The difference was noticeable within a few hours of running the central air's fan in the ON position, in conjunction with running the cooling element to keep the temp...

1.0 out of 5 stars Not as advertised, June 17, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I purchased the 17x21x1 Accumulair Diamond 2-pack expecting that I would receive exactly that. Instead I received two filters that had been resized and were not in the original packaging. The filters had been cut from 21x21x1 (as evidenced by two stickers that had been covered up) to approximately the advertised size. While the filters did fit, I can only trust that they were the premium models that I ordered. There was no Accumulair Diamond marking on the filter itself and it had been repackaged in flimsy non-OEM packaging. If the seller had advertised all of this, I would not have a problem because the filters appear to be working fine. However, the seller didn't advertise this was repackaged product (at best) so I would not recommend buying this product from this seller again.

2.0 out of 5 stars Accumulair, July 5, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Product is fine but there are packaging problems from this vendor. The first shipment was damaged in transit. The box was smashed on one end and the filter frames were torn and the filters crushed on one end. The vendor responded immediately and shipped a replacement at no cost. This was great but the second shipment was also damaged. The box was bent and the filters were creased. The frames were damaged and the filters would not straighten out. I would not buy filters in this shape from a brick and mortar store. The problem is that because of the physical dimenions of the shipment (long, wide but narrow) the light weight container with no reinforcement used by the vendor is not sufficient to protect the shipment.

5.0 out of 5 stars MERV 13 is definitely worth the cost, June 6, 2011

Always skeptical of a company's self-congratulations, I decided to give these Accummulair filters a try. (I usually just stuck with the MERV 11 Filterette variety...which run about $5 cheaper per filter.)The difference was noticeable within a few hours of running the central air's fan in the ON position, in conjunction with running the cooling element to keep the temp down to around 72 degrees. Every breath of air (after a few hours of run time) was noticeably cleaner and fresher. Not sure how long these will last, as this home is an older home and might thus be dustier.

Filters did not look to have been resized/repackaged (as one previous reviewer noted), so perhaps this distributor has improved--or else there is currently an new distributor working with Amazon.com. (???) I will add to this review if I notice anything undesirable about the product, but the packaging was good enough to get both of the filters here intact. And again...very big difference in the air quality with a MERV 13. (Incidentally, I shopped widely, and this deal seems to be the best quality and price possible for a 16" X 20" X 1" filter. Anything beyond a MERV 13 was seeming to run 4 inches in depth...too big for this system.)

Good luck with your shopping! I definitely recommend both this product and this distributor. :-)

2.0 out of 5 stars Sizes do not fit standard vents., September 13, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is basically the only company I could find with 8x20x1 filters. But there filters are actually about a half to quarter inch to big to actually fit in a 8x20x1 vent. And yes the vent is made for 8x20x1 filters I am not talking about the outer dimension of the grille. I had to crush this one a little to get it to fit.

3.0 out of 5 stars MERV 13 Filters, August 7, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I ordered two filters to see how they may improve my allergies. To my dismay the two filters arrived damaged with the one corner on each being crushed. The packaging was of poor quality with too much un-reinfored & un-filled area within the box for the filter to move around. This also permitted the box to easily be crushed during handling. [The box the filters arrived in only showed very slight handling damaging. Nothing compared to the filter damage.]

After bending and re-straightening the first filter I was able to get it to install and properly seal with no by-pass of air. [aka all the furnace return air passed through the filter]

As far as filtration it appears to work ok. As far as allergies I need more time to tell if they work.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best AC air handler filter, November 17, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
We have just been finishing a renovation and our apartment was extremely dusty. Lots of family members had nagging coughs, etc. I was hoping I could use the a/c air handler to filter to air, but the typical filters were not making much of a difference and didn't seem to fit well anyway (air getting around them).

The fractional sizes of these filters were the first thing that drew me to them (16.25 was perfect), and the results have been fantastic. I'm using a Dylos particle counter and was able to get it from a steady reading of over 2000 (200,000 particles/ft^3) small particles (>1um) down to 50 (5,000 particles/ft^3). Highly recommended.

fwiw, the filters we were shipped arrived quickly, undamaged, and did not appear to have been re-sized (16.25x21.25x1) in any way.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great filters and good customer service, October 24, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Ordered 4 of the MERV 13 filters (2 x 2 Pack) and when the shipment arrived it had 2 filters of the wrong size (that's why the -1 star). Called customer service and they apologized and sent me 4 of the right sized filters without any hassle. The filters are great, allergies have stopped and I can see less dust everywhere in the house.

This review is from: 14x18x1 (Actual Size) Accumulair Diamond Filter (MERV 13) (2 Pack)
I have purchased this item twice now and have had no issues. I suffer from severe allergies and this (a high quality air filter) was recommended by my allergist. I have looked around and this particular size is hard to find. You may have to change the filter a couple days short of the 3 month period, but when you pull it out it is amazing how much stuff is on the filter and not in your home's air or your lungs. I saw on one of the previous views about re-seizing or something?? I have never experienced this, they come as pictured and individually wrapped. I will be purchasing my third order within a few weeks.

We shopped for this size filter in our local stores - only one store sold this size and it was for the craptastic standard filter (might as well do without). Getting this in a MERV 13 was a great find.
