I am listening to this CD right now and I have to say it is one great song after another. The duet with Allison Krauss is one of the highlights. This is a band that needs more listening. I enjoy all their music but this is a great collection of some of their hits.

Classic Shenandoah,

For anyone that likes Shenandoah, this is a good one to purchase. I was a little disappointed that "Sunday In the South" was not the original version with the harmonica. But, nevertheless, it's a must have.

If you are a Shenandoah fan, do NOT buy this CD unless you already have some of these songs on another CD. Many of the songs are NOT the original recordings and have very poor sound quality. I was absolutely shocked to hear these far inferior recordings that do not match the songs I know from the radio. A couple are originals (it's apparently a bit hard to re-record the duet with Allison Krauss) and sound fine. The songs are so good it's a shame to not get the originals. The best I can figure from the liner notes is that these songs were taken from a re-recording session for the album "Now and Then." But NOwhere on the CD does it even remotely clearly indicate you're getting something different. I had hoped to use "Next to You, Next to Me" at my wedding reception, but now we'll have to donwload it from itunes. What a waste of money!

I've had this cd for a while now and I must say I love it! It's classic Shenandoah. It's got upbeat fun songs as well as the slower sentimental songs. The entire cd is great, but among my favorites are "Darned if I dont, danged if I do" which is a fun number about a man trying to decide whether or not to go for it!! Of course the cd has the fun hits: "Church on Cumberland Road" and "Next to You Next to Me" which are really upbeat and hard not to sing along with! Personally I like the slower more sentimental songs. This cd has those as well. "Sunday in the South" is by far my favorite song on the album. The lyrics really paint a picture of what life is like growing up in a simple little town in the south. I believe the music that Shenandoah puts out is great because you don't have to think about it, they are easy to understand, fun, spiritual, and sentimental. With mostly straight forward songs, it's REAL country music at its best! Great album!
