A few problems but still a good buy,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I was a bit disappointed when they first arrived. I bought 2 of these, but when I put them together I found some of the small dividing partitions missing--- 8 from one and 10 from the other (by the way, putting it together is simply pushing the partitions into place...the shelves, lid, everything else is one piece). I contacted the dealer by phone and was told there were no more available at this time and I was offered a refund. I chose to keep them. I thought (if need be)I could use pieces of cardboard. It turned out I didn't need them anyway!
As a storage case it's great! I kept some "dividers" out to make larger chambers for things like fabric markers, seam strippers, needles with threader, etc.. Others are small chambers for spools of threads. Still others for spools plus loaded bobbins. It snaps open and shut with two clasps and seem to be very strong. We have a new cat..... I'm sure countless messes have been avoided. The contents are secure yet easy to identify through the "fairly-transparent" walls. I like the fact that I move it all at one time, like a very small book case/tool box (I can't think of a good comparison). Anyway, if I'm going to use the sewing machine I can bring everything out in a couple of minutes---put it all away just as quickly. For the price versus the convenance I would highly recommend this to others. And while I was disappointed with the missing parts, I was pleased with the quick response from the dealer (ScrapbookingAlley) in attempting to solve the problem. That's why I decided thar 5 stars was appropriate.

Great Product to Store Sewing Notions!,

I love Artbins -- I own 3 of them and will order more in the future as I need them. They're stackable, portable, lightweight, and I love that they are translucent so you can see what's inside instead of guessing. They keep my sewing and cross-stitch notions totally organized. The only drawback is that the organizer does not contain enough dividers for each available slot and its difficult to find/order replacement ones. Other than that one drawback, this is a 5-star product!

This is a great product for storing all kinds of things of different sizes or a whole bunch of things of similar size that you want to keep sorted. It comes with lots of dividers to make varied sized compartments so it can really be customized to exactly what you need to store. I use one for sewing supplies and the other for thread, bobbins, etc.

Excellent option for an organizer,

As part of a major closet reorganization, I was looking for some more effective organizers. The ones I had at the time were a pain, because they were all different sizes, relatively small, and were stacked on top of each other making retrieval an ordeal. So I was looking for larger organizers, preferably ones that went "deeper" into my closet, and came across the Super Satchel line. I ordered a selection of different ones to try them out, and am very happy with them. The 9101AB is a large, well-built organizer, with a well-designed divider system, good latches, and best of all, an integrated method of eliminating the inconvenience of having multiple organizers stacked on top of each other. There can be up to 48 divided compartments, but because the organizer only ships with 20 dividers, you're limited to up to 28 unless you purchase additional ones or roll your own. I actually haven't been able to find dividers specific to this model, but you can buy the anti-tarnish ones instead (ArtBin part #5712AT). The see-through plastic is thick and doesn't have a flimsy feel that some other organizers have, and there are structures that reinforce the edges, further strengthening the box. The cover is securely attached with a substantial set of hinges that extend 2/3rds of the hinge side, allowing the cover to easily flip open without worry that they'll wear out over time. The latches are also well-designed, in that they're separately attached and hinged, rather than being flimsy plastic extruded from the main body that could wear out and snap off over time. They snap shut with no ambiguity about whether or not they're actually closed, and it doesn't seem likely they could pop open by themselves. The dividers are superior to many others, in that they use a friction-based rail that won't pop out if the case is flexed (which really can't happen anyway due to its rigidity), and are sized so there's tension that enhances the friction effect to keep the divider in place to prevent tiny items from sneaking underneath. Finally, as part of its design, this organizer has edges that are designed to fit onto rails mounted to the sides of a storage case. Artbin sells a nice one (also available from Amazon) that allows for a variety of configurations of up to 6 organizers. This gets rid of the stacking problem quite nicely, and because the rack system allows almost every Super Satchel to be used regardless of size, is superior to other multi-organizer options that aren't nearly as flexible. Summary: Pros: Sturdy, well-designed hinges and latches. Great divider design. Rack-ready makes for ease of multiple-unit storage. Cons: Only comes with 20 dividers (40 divider slots available). 3 large compartments are not configurable. I think it's good value for the price.

I'm really pleased with this Art bin. I use it for storing sewing tools, markers, etc. I love the little side bins because the are convenient and easy to open (yet stay in place when not in use). The handle makes the box easy to move when you need to get into boxes below that one on top. I've used other storage boxes, but I like these because they latch shut. I've ordered a two more in different configurations. So, I would recommend them.
Amazon -- please publish a bigger picture of them with more views so you can really SEE what you are buying. I had to go to the ARTBIN site to see more detailed pictures. BTW, the Amazon price is much lower the product site.

a place for all the sewing clutter,

This ArtBin is half the height of the regular ones I purchased. I also have the 'cube' that holds the bins in one convenient place. This small bin has compartments that can be adjusted to fit various notions and equipment. One feature that I really like are the snapping closures. Keeps the bin securely shut, and also the handle so you can carry it from place to place. In addition it slides neatly into the cube for storage. Because they are translucent you can see what is inside, like threads. The one drawback is when you want to open them you need to completely remove them from the cube, and if the lid is not shut---well you can guess.
It can be used not only for art supplies, and sewing notions, but in the wood working shop for screws, nails and small easily lost items. |
