I ordered this star punch and received it fast, unfortunately that is the ONLY redeeming quality about this product/transaction. It took me awhile to decide between purchasing this or the Fiskars star hand-punch. After reading the reviews and considering the price difference, which is ample...
I cheaped out and got this. Big mistake. This was going to be used for over 100+ mutli-media prints using cardstock as a base. When I removed it from the packaging the spring wouldn't allow it to close and I was incredibly disappointed. Horrible design, uncomfortable, and unreliable. And now I'm out the cost for this McGill star punch and having to order a new one.

The star holder cavity is open ended. So, instead of holding the stars until you dump them, they fall out when the puncher is held upside down (or even just tilted). The pivot point is in the middle of the puncher which requires the user to apply more force than usual to punch. Overall, they (I bought a few) were not worth it. I've used only 1 and hated it. I'm giving the rest away, hoping that someone will be able make use of them.

My city bus system uses these to punch passes etc. It works pretty well and has a decent reach, but is stiffer till you break it in. Shipped promptly etc. as well.
