5.0 out of 5 stars What I expected
My city bus system uses these to punch passes etc. It works pretty well and has a decent reach, but is stiffer till you break it in. Shipped promptly etc. as well.

2.0 out of 5 stars Don't cheap out!
I ordered this star punch and received it fast, unfortunately that is the ONLY redeeming quality about this product/transaction. It took me awhile to decide between purchasing this or the Fiskars star hand-punch. After reading the reviews and considering the price difference, which is ample...

I cheaped out and got this. Big mistake.

This was going...

I cheaped out and got this. Big mistake.

This was going to be used for over 100+ mutli-media prints using cardstock as a base. When I removed it from the packaging the spring wouldn't allow it to close and I was incredibly disappointed. Horrible design, uncomfortable, and unreliable. And now I'm out the cost for this McGill star punch and having to order a new one.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad Design, March 3, 2011
This review is from: 15-Sheet Capacity 2"" Reach 1-Hole 1/4"" Star Punch, 6-1/2""L, Chrome/Purple (MCG52200) (Electronics)
The star holder cavity is open ended. So, instead of holding the stars until you dump them, they fall out when the puncher is held upside down (or even just tilted). The pivot point is in the middle of the puncher which requires the user to apply more force than usual to punch. Overall, they (I bought a few) were not worth it. I've used only 1 and hated it. I'm giving the rest away, hoping that someone will be able make use of them.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not impressed, September 12, 2009
This review is from: 15-Sheet Capacity 2"" Reach 1-Hole 1/4"" Star Punch, 6-1/2""L, Chrome/Purple (MCG52200) (Electronics)
It punches out the stars okay, but it can be hard to press the handles together. It takes some effort to use. Also, the little stars that it punches out are supposed to be captured inside of the puncher, but they frequently come out of the middle of it somehow and end up all over the floor. I thought that maybe the one I got was defective, so I got another one. It was exactly same, and I had the same problems with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly What I Expected, December 16, 2008
This review is from: 15-Sheet Capacity 2"" Reach 1-Hole 1/4"" Star Punch, 6-1/2""L, Chrome/Purple (MCG52200) (Electronics)
This product is and does exactly what one would expect. The stars are a perfect star shape and would be great for confetti. We use the punch at work to encrypt credit card numbers and it does an excellent job.

Works great. I like the little area it has to hold the paper stars so they do not end up on the floor.

4.0 out of 5 stars What do you say about a hole punch?, July 28, 2007
By
When Amazon asked me to review this product I wondered to myself, "What the heck do you say about a hole punch?" I guess the most important thing is that it's well constructed, not flimsy, and it punches nice star-shaped holes. In other words, it does what it's supposed to do and doesn't look like it'll be falling apart any time soon. The handles are also comfortable to hold and, I believe, can be removed for cleaning. Nice touch.
