We were looking for a nice, dark-looking wood or rattan outdoor storage box. The two we settled on were either this product, or the pottery barn outdoor wood storage box. We decided on this box because it didn't require any maintenance such as sanding and restaining. It also is lighter making it easier to move, and it is half as expensive. The product just arrived and I assembled it last night. Assembly was very quick and easy. The box is constructed from a plastic material which is intended to have a "wood-look". Up close it is clearly not wood, but the dark color and slatted appearance make it the best looking plastic storage box I have seen so far. We're pleased with the overall look of it together with our existing outdoor furniture. When it is assembled it seems quite sturdy and has no problem supporting two adults for bench seating just as advertised. Also, it is one of the larger storage boxes available capable of holding a hefty 150 gallons. Overall, our first impression after assembly is very good. The box is just what we were hoping for in terms of appearance, size, weight, and ability to provide additional seating. The only unknown for us is how well it holds up to the elements, which is the reason its received four instead of five stars. I plan on updating this review in a year to address this.

Addendum: After having the box for a full year, we remain very pleased with it. Throughout a hard winter all of the contents remained dry. It was also fairly easy to clean with just soap and water. As of now I would highly recommend the box as it has functioned well for us.

This 150 gallon Keter Deck Box is well built and sturdy enough for heavy adults to sit on. We store our deck chair cushions in one and outdoor tools (blower, etc.) in another, as we do not have a garage. Assembly was very easy and requires only a screwdriver and (optionally) a rubber mallet. The best price around is at Sam's Club, where we bought two for just $98.44 each, less than 40% of the Amazon merchant price!

UPDATE, APRIL 2013: We're buying 2 more at Sam's Club (still under $100). A tree limb smashed one of ours in a storm and squirrels (aka large rats with furry tails) developed a great fondness for sharpening teeth on the other! I plan to apply a one inch stainless steel molding along the lid edges of the new ones, because that's where they sit and chew. (I've already permanently "relocated" 42 squirrels...a losing battle b/c we're in a wooded area.) The only real problem with the *design* of the 150 gallon Keter Deck Box is the lower attachment points for the dual hydraulic hold-opens: The plastic boss for the screw holding the two piston rods eventually breaks off. So, as soon as you get your box, rough up the surface next to the rod attachment points and build up reinforcement all around both using a stick of 2-part epoxy putty, the kind you knead to activate and then mold into place like clay. It's a very simple, easy fix that *anyone* can do.

This Keter box is still the only one I've found that's long enough to hold rakes, string trimmers, and similar size tools, while also serving as a sturdy seat, or a handy serving table during deck parties. So I'm sticking with it. Maybe I'll be surprised and find Keter has beefed up the rod attachment points since 2010. If so, I'll update this review.

The box is large. Fine. I will give it that and there aren't that many products in this good size. But it stops right there. I bought two of them. They both suffer from the same design flaws. The lid does not close tightly - it warped after two days and the two corners are not closed tight as they should. The rain will and did get in. So after all, its size that was supposed to be its main advantage is also its biggest flaw.
I have another Ketter shed and I should have learned the lesson from the first product: cheap design on top of cheap plastic materials. Not good.

Bought this at Sams and within two months it fell apart! Do not confuse this with the Suncast products, they have been great for years!!

Delivery from Amazon was prompt but due to my busy work schedule and a vacation I was unable to open the box and attempt assembly for about a month. Which is unfortunate because I would have returned it and requested a full refund due to the quality of the product. Upon opening the box I found one of the end panels to be broken. The box was in good condition so it was not due to shipping. I have to say Keter customer service was good when I called them and that part was replaced without question and I received it in a little over a week. Today when I went to assemble the box I found that the bottom of the box is not square. It is 3/4" longer on one side, therefore, needless to say the box is not gonna come together as it should. To make matters worse......when I received the deck box one of my coworkers told me he bought one just like it at COSTCO for only $99.00. I would not feel so bad about all the replacement parts if that is all I had paid, but I feel I was ripped off by Amazon by about $175.00. This deck box is definitely overpriced....go to COSTCO.....it is well worth the $99.00 you will pay there.

Five months later.....Not even worth the $99.00 you might pay at costco! The lid is warped at the corners and will no longer close all the way. The only thing that keeps it closed is the clip I have on the lock latch. Also, the screws on the hardware for the lid stripped out so they are useless. HUGE WASTE OF MONEY!!!!!! The large size (which is the reason I bought this particular deck box) is worthless if the product does not work properly or last more than six months.
